I just came across this site which people might find useful. It has details of what to expect from a range of carriers / planes in the way of the best and worst seats.
Whilst many of us have a pretty good idea of these on Virgin and BA, the site has quite a lot of US airlines listed which might be useful for indirect flights or even other routes.
