Dang. We're gonna miss it by two weeks. I wish they'd post the end dates for season of the force.

I guess this means he Launch Bay reopening date of October first that everyone has posted is wrong? I wonder if JTA will be going down in the meantime like DHS' did.

Yesterday I saw someone link to the WDW character auditions for this with the comment that it was for DLR. Maybe people are confused and they're not opening at the same time?

I don't know who everyone is, but I mentioned -- when I first saw it on the Disney Auditions website a while back -- that it looked like the probable start date for the Launch Bay was going to be on or around October 11th. The wording on the Auditions website clearly stated that performers were needed to start work (at the Launch Bay) on October 11th.

But, as sometimes is the case with Disney, maybe they changed their plan. Season of the Force was not supposed to begin in 2015. It was originally stated in the Parks Blog that it would open in early 2016 (including Hyperspace Mountain). Suddenly Season of the Force is popping up at the start of the holiday season, so that must have been a change of plans as well. Maybe they just decided to delay the Launch Bay until November since they are now starting SOTF at that time.

That's a lot of closures for the coming year. I guess it will give me a chance to save my money for once! I think I'll refrain from my beloved DL until it's put back together again...

Wasn't there a note about dates for rehearsal and then being available for weekends after rehearsal? I read the WDW and thought they were cutting it a little close to the movie to really make a big push. I would have expected it to start on the same date at both parks. Now I'd like to see the route for the SW runs in January with everything closing on the 10th.

And it's not just for this year. It will take more than a year to construct SWL. I'd expect the RR and ROA to be closed for a while.

The press release indicates character(s) at SWLB, which is very exciting. We know Vader is the Visa M&G character, but sky is the limit on the characters they can showcase at SWLB since they have pretty much every character you can imagine at DHS for Star Wars Weekends.

Rehearsal for which thing.. the Launch Bay? I don't remember seeing anything about a rehearsal in the one audition description I read (though the wording could always change -- as it did for the Christmas Fantasy Parade audition info after the first time I read it). I just remember that the performers needed to be available to work on October 11th. The Parks Blog originally said that the Launch Bay would be available later this year, but that SOTF would begin in early 2016, so it seems like some facet of the plan must have changed at some point. :lmao: I can't keep up with Disney and their kooky changes these days!

Maybe I mixed that up. I guess it's also possible that there could be media days before it opens to the public. Maybe not a month's worth, but who knows what Disney considers being available for work. Could be onboarding early and orientation.

Sherry, I'm posting from my iPad so my typing is limited.
By everyone I mean sites with refurb dates listed. For example, touring plans has it listed as reopening October first, as does mousewait.

Sorry if that sounded accusatory. Not my intention.

There it is. Worst case scenario. Space Mt will be down for our entire trip, no doubt. And will Star Tours also be down the week before to add the new scene? All of this will literally open the day after we leave. Totally sucks. You hear me Disney? Sucks!

I don't know where they got the October 1st date from. Maybe it went from October 11th, to October 1st, to November 16th? :lmao: All I know is that October 11th was the date mentioned on the Audition site when I checked it, and now it appears that it is opening on 11/16. Maybe they will try to soft open it a bit earlier?

I am choked. Our AP's expire november 15th. Fingers crossed for a soft opening or AP preview. My star wars obsessed boys would love this!

As I mentioned on the Holiday superthread, my DS is THRILLED by this news. We arrive the 21st! And I'm really glad we're there so long - so much more to see now!

I wish we had an end date (or is there one and I missed it?) because I think I can convince my husband to do a quick trip at the end of January before our aps expire!
