someone once told me when i get on the ship go to guest services and they will give you sea calm i think they said it is called and it works well. has anyone done this??

They have a big bowl of seasickness medicine. Not sure which kind it is. We prefer to bring our own as there are a couple of different kinds. One will make you sleepy and one won't. The one we bring is a generic form of meclizine (the kind that WON'T make you sleepy).

Actually, meclizine is the one that won't make you *AS* sleepy. Some of us still get pretty drowsy off meclizine, but not anywhere near as bad as Dramamine.

I totally reccomend the patches. They are perscription but they are wonderful! I am super sensitive to water motion and they control it for me with no drowsiness. I put one on they day we board and another three days later. They are worth every penny. I do get occasionaly blurry vision when I am reading and my eyes dialate but that is the only problem. And I am a total lite weight so I am probably just oversensitive!

I thought you had to go down to the medical facility on deck one to get them - I have never seen them at guest services. We are Bonine users and find that it works great for us. The other thing is that whatever you take, you need to take before you sail and before you get ill or it doesn't work. But, as with anything, your mileage may vary.

Well, here's the thing--the Front Desk (or in Disney's case, Guest Services) has a supply, but they are very discretely tucked away out of sight unless passengers are experiencing sea sickness. The openly visible container comes out at about the same time as the sea sickness bags appear all over the ship. So you have to remember to pop by Guest Services at the very start of your trip, without the visual prompt of seeing the pill supply first.

When we went in 07 there was a huge bowl sitting on the desk during the whole cruise........ also the dining rooms were less than half full during the entire cruise due to people being sick.

Sea Calm/Bonine/Meclizine is not really a remedy. It's really a preventative. It might not stay down, if you wait to take it until you already feel seasick. We take one the day before we sail and each day while the sea is calm at breakfast..twice a day if it's not. It's not supposed to make you as sleepy, however it does a little for me. Also, if you drink alcohol, it seems to make you sleepier, or so I've been told. I also have to take it the day after my cruise, since I have a problem once back on shore.
This is our first time on a Dis cruise, but on all others, it has always been available at the infirmary and pursers desk. If you say you have asthma, they won't (or shouldn't) give it to you without a doctor visit.
