Seasickness better at midship?

First off- let me just say that I am so excited to talk to other Disney fanatics like myself! My entire extended family, while happy to let me plan ALL details of our many Disney vacations, thinks that I am a total nutcase for my devotion to all things Disney. And to think that I never even knew of this board's existence---- but I digress!

My question for all of you veterans is this. My DS(9) has been known to become seasick in the past. (Of course that was on little boats and not a huge ship.) So I tried to book a mid-ship stateroom because I was told by TA that it was the most stable. Unfortunately, the only room I could find which met all of our other requirements is near the front of the ship, not at the mid. I have tried to move more midship quite a few times but so far have had no luck.

Veterans, is this a big issue? I know from reading this board to get the Bonine and have him take it the night before and to brind the SeaBands but is the mid-ship thing really accurate?

Thanks in advance for the help!

PS- This may have been covered in an earlier thread. If so, I'm new to this and sorry to take up more space!

I tend to get a little sea sick on ships.....on my last cruise I stayed on the 1st passenger deck at midship and it was awesome...we were going thru some very strong seas and I could not even tell we were moving...the ship might not bother him being it is larger than what you have traveled on before...hopefully it all works out for you...

Thx Tara!

I have read on other posts about giving him a half tablet of Bonine- I will try that. He's never been on a ship before so it may all work out. I was just wondering about the the fore placement verses midship, because I read some other posts that talked about the higher level of seasickness in the theater and that is at the front on a lower level. We'll see! Thanks for replying back!:)

we had smoother sailing on the Wonder than any other ship we've ever traveled on. This was due in part to weather and due in part to the "stableizers" we were told. Mid ship should not make that much difference , still it cannot hurt to try for it. We are toward the aft this trip and will see how dd and myself faire. We both get really car sick withoout dramamine or somthing. Hope you have a grand trip!:wave2:

We have just returned from our Wonder cruise and had very calm waters, but like you I was concerned about Seasickness for both myself and daughter. We took 1 meclizine tablet each before we got on and it made us so tired and dizzy we changed to ginger capsuals.
We did not get sick at all and we could feel the ship moving but not in a terrible sicky way. We were aft of the ship but even sitting upfront in the Disney theatre we were absoultly fine.

To be honest I dont know if it was the ginger capsuals that worked as we took them everyday or if we would have been ok anyway.

Hope you have a good trip and calm waters.
