OK, I didn't get any responses before, so I am editing this post to be shorter.

We just returned from a 4 night cruise. We have been on two of each, the 3, 4 and 7 night cruises. We experienced the most seasickness problems on the 7 night cruise.

My 'theory' is that by being near the Bahama islands the waters are calmer than out in the open sea, so maybe on the 3/4 night cruises you don't have waters that are as rough.

What do the rest of you who have done both the short and long cruises think? Is there a bigger problem with seasickness on the 7 night cruises versus the 3/4 Night cruises?

Thanks!
DJ

Anyone have any experience with both cruises and can say how the waters were for them?
Thanks,
DJ

I have been on the 3,4, and 7 day cruise. I would think seasickness is more of an issue when the ship has to cross the gulf stream to get to, or come from, the Bahamas, as this is typically the roughest water because of the current. The only rough water that I have encountered on any of the Disney cruises was returning to port on the last day of the three day cruise.

Many years ago, before Disney, we took and cruise to the Bahamas on an older ship. Again, when the ship had to cross the gulf stream it rocked so much that over 3/4 of the passengers and crewwere seasick.

We are convinced that the stabilizers make a huge difference in containing the movement of the ship.

The only rough water that I have encountered on any of the Disney cruises was returning to port on the last day of the three day cruise.

Our first time on the cruise, we were on the 3 night Wonder. We also felt the boat rocking on our way back to port on our last night. I don't think I can do a 7 night. I'll do for 3 and 4, but 7 nights, I'm afraid I won't be able to handle it. I was swaying/rocking after our cruise, it took about 3 days for it to go away.

3,4, or 7 days doen't make a difference in seasickness. The time of year play a big part ,wind conditions and a persons own health. I hsve never been seasick but my wife gets sick. A friend of mines got sea sick in hawaii and he owns a boat.

We've been on 3 Wonder 4-day and 1 Magic Western. The only time we have had rough seas is the last night returning to port after being in the Bahamas. Out of 4 trips total, 2 of them have had 8-12 foot seas the last night. Even with slightly rough seas, no one in my family has had any trouble with sea sickness. (let's hope it stays that way)

I've done two 3 nights and a 7. I really sick on both of the 3 nights, especially on the 1st night.

On the 7, I did really well. I only felt a bit of movement going from St. Thomas. I stayed in the pool and out of the theater.

Thanks for the responses! I guess my theory doesn't hold true. Our 7 night cruises must have just been in rough waters (the last one was during a hurricane, so that one I did understand).

I guess I won't rule out another 7 night cruise in the future then. It now sounds like the seasickness/rough waters thing isn't something you can predict, and you just have to hope for the best.

Thanks again for everyone's observations!
