Hi!

Was wondering if anyone could tell me here where the best beach is on the Eastern that our DD could find seashells on the beach?? I know that you can't take them from Castaway or the beaches that have National parks but what about the other beaches on the 7 day Eastern?? This will probably be the most exciting part of the trip for our 7 yr old DD----she is so longing to find some shells on the beach and bring them home---she says this is the one thing that she is dying to do. She is also wanting to get some to use in a Science fair project she is doing on shells ---so if we can't find any on the beaches there would there be a good place to buy them??? I was also wondering if Coral World would be a good place to take her and do they have any information about shells in general there?? Thanks for your help everyone!! :flower1:

I don't know if you have time in Cape Canaveral before/after your cruise, but we were at Jetty Park, just beyond the cruise port in October. While the sand still isn't "like it should be", the shells there were in abundance and beautiful. My DS11, DS7 and DD5 brought home so many that were in excellent shape!

Thanks for your reply jfis1020!

We will be coming in a day early and staying at the Radisson at the port but we get in probably after dark early evening. Was wondering if you or anyone else knew how far Jetty park is from the Radisson??? Would shell hunting there be difficult after dark?? The next morning would be a possibility but we have an early shuttle by 10:00am to the ship so we would have to get up early and go but it all depends on how far away it is. Thanks again and if anyone else has had some great shell experiences at any of the ports on the Eastern we would love to hear! :flower:

For all intesnive purposes, there isn't much at coral world and I would not recommend it. For about $18 a piece you get a tiny touch pool, some sad sharks swimming in circles and and underwater observatory with not much to see. I saw no shells or coral. Save your money and head to Saphire beach and swim and snorkle there.

Thanks cruisenewbie2004!

Can you tell me how you got to Sapphire beach, how long it took you and how much it cost?? We will have 4 adults and 1 child and am wondering about the transportation there?? Do they have chairs to rent etc..??? Also does it get really crowded if there are alot of ships in port that day??

Am also wondering about Magen's Bay??? Have heard this is supposed to be a good beach as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated since we did'nt book any excursions with DCL I'm trying to figure out what would be best for all of us. BTW we will have my 75 yr old parents with us so we would like to go somewhere easy in case they would like to go back to the ship on their own. Thanks alot!!! :flower1:

Go to the library, bookstore or amazon.com and get the Passporter book for DCL. I would look things up, but have loaned mine out. It has several pages about excursions on each cruise. You can get a "blow by blow" account of everything. Also, passporter.com is where their site is.

You get off the ship and are inundated with aggressive, sometimes rude, cab drivers. Find one to take you to the beach and arrange pick up. Be aware though that it takes about 45 minutes to get to Sapphire beach from the port. Magens is closer and the crew told me it is nice as well.

Anyone else have info on where to find shells or what's the best beach?? :D

I have the identical situation....DD7 who LOVES shells and looking forward to finding some on the Eastern. I suppose I could sneak on some of the bazillion shells we already have in the house and conveniently "find" them on any beach, but knowing this kid, she's probably got each one mentally inventoried and numbered.

I feel bad sneaking them off CC...but they do have some there.
