Search function

Has it worked for anyone at any time the past couple days, or am I just missing the moments of opportunity? I know you have to get on early, be on late, or maybe catch a moment here and there throughout the day, when the guest load is low, but I tried as early as 6 AM and as late as midnight, and several times during the day, and no go. Was there an announcement of it being turned off completely that I missed? Or am I just missing those moments?

I've had it work for me a couple of times this week. I think the planets were aligned in my favor for once On the other hand, I haven't had any luck with it today.

To my knowlege Dan it is up and running. I used it a day or two ago. It is "load sensitive" as Alex has explained. My understanding is it shuts its self off once our load hits a certain number. You may want to ask over on Tech but as far as I know its functioning.

A bit back...Alex posted some statistics regarding our new member registrations and how our numbers and posts on all boards sitewide were just skyrocketing and getting higher every month. The numbers were amazing. I would venture to say that low user usage time is getting a run for its money possibly because of that.

I don't know if this will help, Dan - but I use it to find threads where I know the thread starter. It's a bit convoluted, but it works better than manually searching thtough page after page of posts!

1) Near the bottom of the page, there are selection boxes that let you select what order threads are displayed in. Change the first one to Thread Starter. You can change the second to ascending or descending, I prefer ascending. Select from the beginning in the last selection and press Go.

2) The CB will refresh with the posts in thread starter order (except for those 'sticky' threads)

3) That will place something like this in the Address area of your browser..http://198.64.133.85/forumdisplay.p...ortfield=postusername&perpage=50&pagenumber=1

4) Take a shot and change the pagenumber to something else. In the example above, it's set to 1. For example, changing to to 250 gets you to posts by fklhou.

5) By manipulating the pagenumber, you should be able to zero in on a poster pretty quickly.

This seems to work very quickly too!

I have managed to use the search function a couple of times last week. Again, it was late at night or first thing in the morning.

I've been able to use it once this week I think, but then I don't try to access it that often. I'm always pleasantly surprised if I can get through though.

Hasn't worked for me and I tried to access it at 8.00 a.m. our time which is 3.00 a.m. in the US ~ No joy!!!!

I don't know Dan. I was just trying to search for your post warning us about trolls, which seems to have mysteriously disappeared, and when I tried to use my Search Function, I got the message that it had been disabled.

Kind of a lot of coincidential occurences these past couple of days, huh?

I was in a middle of a search last night and was working. When I tried to go from page 2 to page 3; the search function was disabled. Si I guess it it based on the number of posters on the system.
