Seal Hunt

I was trying to refrain from replying, but I cannot help but say, if it is the Newfoundland seal hunt you are talking about, you people are a little mis-informed. I have strong opinions about this subject, and have replied to posts on many different websites about this, but it always landed me in trouble, so I do not want to cause any major problems, so that is all I will say.

Seals are waay to smart to be hunted like that. The mother seals know what is going on and could be watching their babies just die like that. It's sick and wrong. The cruelty has me in tears.

I can't imagine clubbing a puppy or pony to death for its meat, coat, or anything.

In defense of C.J-- whom I think was trying to say killing the adults isn't as bad as killing babies. Not saying I agree, but here's where he might get his logic -- babies haven't had time to experience life... they don't know life. Adults do.

I think all killing is wrong. Please, don't let me post. It'd be a mess.

I like the part about not clubbing a pony or puppy to death.
I've never really seen many seals, but I've seen lots of puppies and ponies.
It makes sense to me.

I think it's bad to torture them before killing them, but I think killing them in a better way would be OK. I don't really want to have an argument about it because I haven't learned a lot about the subject.

Well, I don't think I'll go out and club a chicken to death, but I guess I can imagine doing that more than I can imagine brutally murdering an intelligent mammal. It's like, I'll stomp on a bug, but not a chihuahua.

well, its debatable that a chihuahua is an intelligent animal, but I can kindof see your point. But to me, killing an animal is killing an animal. Like, is killing a stupid person better than killing a smart one?

Really, I just can't imagine going around killing animals, especially in such a cruel way.

My mom said that animal activists used to go around and spray paint stripes on baby seals to make their pelts worthless. I wonder if they still do that?

You can't kill a baby seal. You can kill a "ragged jacket" seal. at 12 days, they begin to loose their white fur. = ragged jacket. They're no longer consider infants. I dunno if spray paint would make them worthless or not, but its a pretty good idea.

I read about the age requirement. But 12 days old, a month old, three months old seems like a baby to me, even though I know it's different in the animal world.

The spray painting used to work, but I just read that it has since become it illegal to interfere in that way with the seal hunt.

Its also illegal to throw dye on people's fur coats....but activists do it anyway.
