We're leaving in a few days to go to Hilton Head. We have been there before and have eaten at the Fisher king but heard the food isn't so good now. My family loves seafood, especially crab & lobster. We'd like to find a good place to eat that is close by. Any suggestions??

We live in Charleston and DH is an offshore fisherman, so we're pretty picky about seafood. However, we had lunch at The Sea Shack while we were at HH in June and the food was pretty excellent.

DH had cobia ( which I wish I'd ordered ), DD had fried shrimp, Cyd had *excellent* grilled shrimp, I had a fish and chips, which was good, but not as good as the cobia or the shrimp. Real sweet tea, good hush puppies. DH said we'll hit it every time we go to HHI from now on.

BTW, I believe the meal for 4 with drinks was only around $60. Not bad at all.

I also recommend The Sea Shack. We also like The Old Oyster Factory. We have eaten at The Kingfisher a few times simply because of its proximity to the resort and never had a bad meal. I wouldn't put it above the 2 places mentioned earlier but it wasn't bad. We have also heard good things about Scott's Fish Market (the other seafood place in Shelter Cove, right across from the resort) but haven't eaten there yet ourselves.

Add The Crazy Crab to the mix...also Red Fish but higher price

Our first restaurant on HHI was Sea Shack last month:wizard:

It was worth the trip and wait! Extremely Casual, cheap, but excellent!!

I had the Shack Attack, 1 large crab cake, 1 Fish Fillet, shrimp, scallops and 2 oysters. I chose blackened, lightly seasoned after reading some reviews online. Also chose the sweet potato fries and collard greens. My plate was $15.95.

DS's had the fried shrimp and my brother had fried catfish.

Our total for 4 with soft drinks, tax and 20% tip was $80.

We went late and waited about 30 minutes in line to be seated. They are open for lunch and dinner only. Dinner is 5-9pm Take out depends on how busy they are. If they are really busy they stop taking orders for take out and you have to stand in line.

Will definitely return.

Old Oyster Factory is our fav, like the food, love the decor and location.

Love Old Oyster Factory, Crazy Crab, Sea Shack. Like Kingfisher and Scott's at Shelter Cove for the convenience and good food. There are more seafood places on HHI than you can count!
