Just a quick question. When we were at Disney World last summer we noticed that the Cape May Cafe at BCV had a seafood buffet. We LOVE seafood and would like to try it when we are there this summer. Has anyone tried the buffet and do they still have it?

Thanks - I love these boards - they provide the best information I have ever found.

They had it in February when we were there and had it for many years before that so I would imagine it will still be around. It is very good for a buffet.

Thank you for the update - my DD is especially exciting because she wants to try all kinds of seafood.

Another vote here for the Cape May Cafe Seafood Buffet. It is my husbands favorite place to eat when we are there.

Yes and when you go to Cape May Buffet please tell Dianne, the Hostess, that I said hi! She is a very nice Hostess

Thanks.

It's generally very good. I have been there a couple of times when they went a little "overboard" (no pun intended;) ) on the fried seafood, though.

Two thumbs up!!!!!

We eat at the CMC buffet every year we go home most times I don't eat all day just for this meal!!

Seafood and me are like Homer Simpson and Donuts.......OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Sorry was thinking about those buckets of clams!!!:p :p

We loved it also, we went at least once if not twice each time we visited. We went this past January and absolutely hated!! it. :(
Very big dissapointment this time around. I can't pinpoint exactly why. I didn't find the CM's as friendly as usual (not a big deal) no ice cream to go on those yummy brownies etc. Just a lot of little things that irked me this time but didn't irk me the last numerous times I had been there. Wasn't just me, DH felt the same way I did. I've heard on these boards that sometimes buffets are a hit and miss, this was the first "miss" in all the buffets we have eaten at.

What kinds of seafood do they offer? would you choose CMC or Fultons?
Thanks.

When I was down in Feb the food was not as good as it used to be. The presentation also was lacking, since they got rid of some of my favs like mussels marinara and broiled fish.
We have moved on to Boma in the AKL. The food seems fresher there and they have the best salmon in the world. This is not a seafood buffet though so you may not be intested.

I got back from Florida on Sunday--I hated the COLD return to reality--and ate at Cape May on Saturday night. They have rearranged some things, notably putting the desserts over by the entrance, and reducing the amount of desserts. This time the desserts had several types of cookies, key lime pie, cherry cobbler, flan, cheesecake, raspberry cake, chocolate cake, citrus cake, and a torte. The strawberry shortcake was gone, as were all the tiny pastries.

On the main buffet they had two kinds of soup, mussels, clams, shrimp--boiled, baked salmon, corn on the cob, red-skinned potatoes. Side 2 was corn bread, regular rolls, muffins, prime rib and flank steak (I think). I couldn't get close, due to all the people in line waiting for the chef to cut their meat. On the kids' end their was mac and cheese, fried fish nuggets, fried chicken strips, mini hot dogs, and french fries. Side 3 was baked chicken, vegies, ribs, mashed potatoes, gravy--2 kinds. Side 4 was salads, make your own, as well as about 15 different bowls of salads containing some kind of pasta, and one bowl of mixed fruit. There were also several whole bananas, whole strawberries, apples, and grapes decorating side 4, which were also being eaten, and were regularly replenished.

I may have forgotten a few things, but this will give you some idea of what is on the menu. Cape May used to be my favorite place to eat, but now my favorite is Boma's, which can't be beat with four soups, a huge fruit and vegie section, and hummus. Whoever heard of hummus on a buffet?!! Well, Boma's has it! Since my daughter is allergic to seafood, I'm mainly vegetarian, and my DH is strictly meat and potatoes, while my other daughter only eats seafood, we need a buffet that has it all. Cape May proved a difficult fit for me, as I had to try to find $23.95 worth of corn, squash, corn bread, and salad. We found that Boma's did better at making sure all of us had enough food to eat.
;)

I agree with you, Boma is the best buffet at Disney and maybe the whole area. I don't eat meat and my DH doesn't like shell fish of any kind but we both love the food at Boma. I also love the hummus especially the olive hummus. I love the squash soup which tastes like dessert to me it is so sweet and creamy. My DH likes the African soufle thing with ground meat and raisins with African spices. I am getting hungry just thinking about this place. We are visiting in May but can't go there since my sister can't eat onions in anythng and I am sure they put lots of onions in their food.

icy dog, you mentioned all my favorites at Boma's:p The soup is to die for, isn't it? I even liked the african soufle-thing, which says a lot, since I am not a meat-eater. I was very surprised about the hummus--I think they had THREE kinds! And all the fruit--yum! It's too bad you can't go in May--when we were there they had ham and beef cut by the chef, so that had no onions in them. Perhaps your sister would be happy with that in the meat department, and then load up on non-meat items. Oh, yea. there was also two kinds of chicken and mac and cheese to eat, too. Perhaps you could convince your sister to try it once. ;)

My DW and I have eaten at the Cape May buffet only once. Although the company was great, we found the food to be just ordinary. The desserts were the best part, but not outstanding.

If you want good seafood at WDW, I recommend Flying Fish instead. The potato wrapped snapper with wine reduction is exceptional! The atmosphere is very nice, too. :)

Are we talking about the normal buffet they have ? Or a special SEAFOOD one ? The standard buffet IMO is just okay. Small u-peel shrimp, tiny steamed clams, standard mussels,a chowder and fried fish, nothing to get excited about. For a couple dollars more I'd rather head out to The Boston Lobster Feast....now that's a seafood buffet.

I'm not a big seafood fan, but since we stay at the Beach Club Villas, Cape May Cafe is a very convenient place to eat and we were impressed last September.
Getting the wee one all the way over to Boma is quite a schlep! And she probably won't find much to eat there (she's 14 months). Boma MUST be good, though, because there is always a huge crowd waiting to be seated!
If you want a great meal, and aren't tied to a buffet, try Jiko's, just across the way from Boma. In my opinion, the best food in the "World" next to California Grill.
