Ok, I was watching The View this morning...I'm a BIG Whoopi fan!...and they were talking about the heat and Whoopi says that Seabreeze works great to cool you off. She said make a bowl of ice water and pour some Seabreeze in it and then dunk in a washcloth or papertowel and put it around your neck to cool you down? Wouldn't that work if it was just ice water without the Seabreeze? Anyone hear of this? What does the Seabreeze do for coolness?

Big coincidence she she should mention this too, because I LOVE Seabreeze, I use it everyday on my face (the sensitive skin one) and Walgreen's has it on sale this week and I just bought 4 bottles of it yesterday. It's not cheap, well, at least not cheap enough to be pouring it into a bowl of ice water.

Now that you mention it I recall from back in the days when sun exposure was not something I worried about :hippie: that Seabreeze was good for sunburn. So this might work ...

Now granted, I failed Chemistry in the 10th grade, but I bet it's because the alcohol evaporates quicker than the water and makes you feel cool. Like when you put rubbing alcohol on your skin and the blow on it.

Ok, I'll buy that, but why Seabreeze??? It would be ALOT cheaper to use the rubbing alcohol.

Seabreeze also has menthol. The menthol is cooling, besides the effect of the alcohol. You could probably mix in mint essential oil and alcohol/witch hazel for a similar effect.

Wouldn't the menthol and alcohol dry your skin out though? If you're using this to cool sunburn wouldn't it actually make it worse by drawing what little moisture is left in your skin away? :confused3

Yes, the alcohol will dry your skin out. I liked someone's suggestion to use witch hazel. Same effect, but much better on your skin.

I am sure there are lots of home remedies for cooling off in the sun. I love Sea Breeze for its cooling effects.

That all sounds sounds so wet and messy and who needs alcohol and the like all over your neck and clothes? If you want the absolute best all day, water based, reusable and chemical-free cooling product, google Polar Breeze Bandanas for the ultimate cooling neck wrap.
