Sea World worth it? (poss. wrong forum)

I was just about to post this exact same question! So thank you op for asking it! We too are "on the fence about SW. On the one hand, I'm pretty sure my girls will love it (11 & 6) On the other hand it does take away a day at a disney park, which in our case will most likely be either our 3rd MK day or our 3rd Epcot day. So I'm still not convinced????

I' m also waffling about going to Seaworld on our trip to Disney next month.
I will be traveling with my sister, brother-in-law and my son (10). Since the tickets are going to cost $61.95 each (since I'm Canadian, to me that is more like $72.50 Canadian) I'm wondering if it is going to be worth the money and also it's supposed to be alot more expensive to eat there - which places have good food?

:confused3

YAY!! YAY!! YAY!! YAY!! YAY!!

Your 4 year old will love it. We always do the dolphin show first. Also make sure you see the Otter & Walrus show. It's a blast. My kids loved it.

The pace is more relaxed and kids just love animals.

A mini “Why I Like :worship: Sea World more than the MK.”

1.You can feed and pet a sting ray. You can’t do that at MK.

2.You can feed and pet a dolphin. You can’t do that at MK.

3.The landscaping is all real :flower2: plants. The feel is less “plastic”. When MK wants a plant they make a plastic one with a concrete base.

4.The employees are less “plastic”. I think it comes from the fact that the employees at SW interact with the animals and are from a different group than MK cast members. SW employees are people who love animals who happen to work at a theme park. People who love and work with animals have a different view of life. MK robot operators never need to use a pooper scooper behind their robots.

5.The SW animals are all real or people dressed up as animals. Not a robot in sight.

6.MK does not have any trained cats. Pets Ahoy does. :cat:

7.They don’t sell beer at MK. Almost every food stand at SW sells beer and in the back they give it away free. Walking around the Florida :sunny: heat with a cold :drinking: brew is part of Life in Paradise.

8.MK does not have a live water ski show :boat: with gonzo performers doing stuff so dangerous they have a paramedic at every show. SW does.

9.Shamu. Sharks. Atlantis :fish: aquariums. Penguins. Clydesdales. The fish at the Epcot Seas are a lame “me too” imitation of the real thing at SW.

10.WDW liability lawyers are too chicken to douse their guests with 52° man made salt water. At SW, no problem.

11.If you take the kids at the right time in that 5 to 10 year range when they like science and animals and are at the wow of discovery period, SW has a lot to teach and show them. :teacher: More than just MK entertainment.

12.Did I mention SeaWorld has free :drinking1 beer?

WDW is something but please do not go all the way to Orlando and not go to Sea World for a whole day or you will miss one of the best things there.

Long enough rant, gotta go over to dismates to find a Dis Princess willing to change my mind. :)

No trip to Orlando would be complete without visiting Sea World and being drenched in ice cold sea water by a killer whale! The park is so laid back, it's not as rushed as others and it's a great place to spend a quiet day taking in the sights, shows and Floridian atmosphere.

Went in '04, my DD (12) and DS (5) were a little bored with the park. It was crowded, we tried to get into the Shamu show and couldn't. Not a real good time for us and we haven't been back. We are from Washington State and my kids actually preferred the Oregon Coast Aquarium over Seaworld!

If you have a good regional aquarium near where you live, I would probably recommend that over Seaworld. Seaworld might be bigger and have a couple of rides, but at least in my opinion you will be getting to see the same type of thing at home for a lot less money.

Now I have heard that Discovery Cove is worth going to. That is the portion of Seaworld that is limited to 1,000? guests a day and you have personalized service and swims/encounters with dolphins. I don't know the exact price but think it is somewhere in the $200 range.
