our first ever sea world visit is a monday in sept.
what should we NOT miss,
and where do you snack/eat?
:goodvibes

two adults, neither is a big coaster freak, like all kinds of food.
BTMRR was a little strong for me(kept my eyes closed), and space moutain is still giving me nightmares....

Be sure to see all of the shows, especially Shamu (Believe and Shamu Rocks) the second is best IMO. You also can't miss the sealion and walrus show, the Mime there is so funny!:rotfl2: Blue Horizones, the whale and dolphin show, is great, too. Those are my top picks. Even if you don't ride the simulator be sure to go see the polar bear exhibit. It is hard to believe how huge those guys are, especially the walrus! Enjoy:banana: !

You have to see the animal shows, I agree with JoyMouse that Shamu rocks is the better of the two Shamu shows. The Sea Lion show is excellent and it is advised that you get there early to see the mime in action. Blue Horizons is also a good show and pets Ahoy is good to kill 20 mins. The new cirque du soleil type show they have now have is also good but not as good as cirque. I'm not a rollercoaster fan either so I can' say anything about Kraken but Journey to Atlantis is good and so is the polar bear exhibit/simulator.

As for food, I can't remember the exact name off the top of my head but the BBQ smokehouse place is fantastic

My suggestion for a first-timer, is to make sure you check out the show times as soon as you get there and plan your day around that.

Figure out what shows you want to see and in what order. Then you will be able to see the attractions and exhibits near the shows. This will help you maximize your time and avoid a lot of unnecessary walking.

Also, make sure you arrive at the shows at least 30 minutes early, especially for Believe.

Unless you are going the first monday of September (when the park is open until 8.30) Seaworld will only be open until 6 so you need to plan your day so you can see and do everything you want to.
If you visit seaworld.com you can view the show schedule but only for the month we're in at the time. There is also a park map on the website so you can decide in advance what you want to do. The shamu show and blue horizons are really worth seeing - we really enjoyed them. i would also recommend going to dolphin cove and wild arctic.
Hope you enjoy your day.:)

We just got back last week, and took the kids there for the first time. I loved it!! It's such a different atmosphere than the Disney Parks...not many rides, not many lines...The theaters for the different shows accomodate large groups of people, so unless you wanted a 'splash zone' seat, you could pretty much just walk right in within 10 minutes before showtime. The two rides were lots of fun. The Journey to Atlantis is similar to Splash Mountain (although, not as scienic, per say, almost kind of corny). The Kraken was VERY thrilling, lots of loops and twists. Unless you REALLY like those types of coasters, I would avoid it. We did the online special, BOGO day free ticket.
We got there at opening (9:00) and did the two rides first, no wait whatsoever. We were able to ride quite a few times. At about 10am, a line started to form, and thats when we left that area and walked towards the shows. The Shamu and the dolphin shows were really fun, the mime at the sealion show was hilarious (as someone else also said). We ate at the Hospiality House Deli...not bad for the prices. The food was also good, though not alot of choices. The FREE beer made up for it, though!!! We actually went back for the second day and fed the dolphins-a must do, esp. for the kids-and saw the Pets Ahoy show, which was very fun. All in all, we really were surprised at the amount of time we spent there. There really is alot to see and do there, and the best part is that you do it at your own leisurely pace. Enjoy your trip.

We were just there for the 1st time the 1st week of June.

I would say to look at the schedule & plan out what shows you want to see first. The shows times are kind of scattered so you really have to plan your trip around them. We saw Clyde & Seamore, Believe & Blue Horizons. All three were wonderful! We then saw the attraction around that show so we didn't do any back tracking.

there is a "preshow" for odysea (at least two years ago they had it). I guy who doesn't talk, just uses a whistles, entertains the audience by interacting with the audience. We thought it was hilarious. Like he will go up to someone who is coming in and pretend to escort them to a seat and then make the person in the seat move. We are planning on arriving early this year just to see this. The actual show itself is amazing.

As others have mentioned, it is very important to plan your schedule around the shows you want to see. If you don't plan ahead, you will probably not see all the shows you wanted to by the end of your day. Sea World is a great park and has a lot to offer all family members. So plan ahead and enjoy your day. Just happened to think, if you go to the Sea World website, they have a short film on how the Blue Horizons show was produced and it will give you a sampling of the types of shows they put on.
