sea world luau dinner

We are going to Discovery Cove on 4/1, which also happens to be my daughters 16th birthday. I really want to make this day even more special for her (we're swimming with the dolphins), so I thought since we are basically at Sea World, perhaps we should go to the Luau. Has anyone been? Any opinions? Would we be able to walk over from DC, and would it be relatively easy to get back to our car? How far in advance do we need to make reservations? Will we be able to visit sea world a little after dinner? Oh by the way, what time is the Luau? And now for the biggest question............ Since my daughter was born on April fools day I would love to arrange for areally good April fools trick, can anyone help? Does anyone know if or of anyone that can help me with this? Thank you for any info in answering my long list of questions.

First of all, Discovery Cove is too die for! Daughter will love it! We did the Luau at Sea World last year. I would drive your car over to Sea World after your done at Discovery Cove unless they offer a shuttle to and from both parks. Way too far to walk especially both ways and the Sea World Parking lot is huge not to mention it will be late and dark after the luau and you will be tired from swimming all day at Discovery Cove. (depending which time of year you go I guess) we always go in late January early February. We made our ressies about a month before. The park was closed when the dinner show was done so touring was not an option after the show but we had been there all day so we were pretty much done anyway. Sorry but I don't remember what time the luau started. If I think really hard, it seems like we started over around 6:45ish. The park closed around 9:00 and like I said it was closed and the park was deserted when we got out of dinner. As for the show itself, it was cute in a corny sort of way. When it first started I just rolled my eyes thinking how long is this going to last? but by the end we were all clapping, hooting, laughing and having a great time, The performers really got you into it. My daughter, brother and nephew were up on stage shaking there stuff and we just laughed and laughed. The show was kind of "old school" if I had to describe it but the performers had great energy and really seemed to be having a lot of fun. There was a lot of senior citizens but they were so cute the way they were slurping down the complimentary mai-tai's. All in all, the show was fun. Am I glad we did it? Yes. Would I do it again? Probably not.

We just went this past week to the luau dinner, 6 adults (including 4 grandparents) and one four year old. The show started at 6:30 pm and parks closed at 7pm. So we could not do any touring or shopping after the show. We really enjoyed the food, there was breaded mahi, veges, sweet and sour chicken and very food fried rice. Everyone in our party enjoyed it. They announced birthdays and special events. Everyone had a good sense of humor so I'm sure you could arrange something for April Fool's. We lauged a lot. We enjoyed it and we would go again.

go to the sea world web site, and there is a toll free number you can use to reserve, and it also mentions a five dollar off the ticket price, if you tell them you are using the coupon from their site.

Personally, I was thinking there would be more to this dinner then what there was, but it was still fun to go to!

Just thought I would update this. We went to the Sea World Luau on 8/29/03. ?My kids ages 2 through 14 all loved it. My husband and I enjoyed it too, it was entertaining and the food was tasty. I don't know how it compares to other Luau shows, but I would go again for something a little different to do while at Sea World.

We went last April. It was fun, but there was no fire dancer. BIG disappointment! The bathrooms were about a three to four minute walk a couple of buildings away. Outside it felt like you were on a backlot somewhere, the building was just some steel building it could've been a warehouse until you went inside). But the food was good (a little different, but good) and the dancers were *very* good. Wouldn't go again, though, unless they got a more appropriate facility (hello, theming?) and brought back the fire dancer. I think I was the only one there who got the Don Ho reference.

As a point of reference, the Spirit of Aloha luau at Disney's Poly resort had a too-slow moving "story-ish" theme (not the best for restless children), but the dancers, food, facility and fire dancer at the finale were all excellent, well worth the money. We might go back in a couple of years (they need an earlier kids version with Stitch, etc.)...

The show is now in a building in the new area of Sea World. No more walking to other buildings to use the bathroom! They did have the fire dancers too. The building is air conditioned, a big plus in my book!

That's great to know that they got a good facility where they could have the fire dancer. FWIW, all the dancers were very good at that show.

Has anyone been to the one at Universal @ the Royal Pacific Resort? We will be staying there, and just wonder if anyone has any experience there. Trying to decide if we should go to any luau at all. The Seaworld one sounds neat. I think we went to this one years ago when we were there in 1994.

I don't know when you're going, but we're planning on going to the royal pacific's in May (staying at the HRH).
I'll let you know what we think ~ I thought the food sounded a little better at the RPR

i know through ticketmaniz.com you can order tickets, then call the 800 seaworld res number and make your res, not sure if the price is the same but when u make the res they ask for a number off the back of the ticket from ticketmaniz good luck

I have got a ticket for the Luau on 22nd October. I am going to Discovery Cove for the day, then go to sea world after. According to the web page the park hours for that and the following saturday are 9am til 10 pm. I am going to use the I ride to Sea world does anyone know wher the bus to get from Sea World to Discovery cove meets?
