Sea World in June Questions

I have a few questions about visiting Sea World in mid June and so appreciate any help anyone can give me. Our group will be four "girls" ages 44, 50, 72 and my 12 yo dd. I am a bit worried about my aunt who at her age really feels the heat and walking. We don't have to see it all, but rather the highlights. Here are my questions:

How bad will crowds be? We will be going sometime between Mon-Thur. I am waiting for Disney to release their hours to make my Sea World plans. But it for sure will be one of those four weekdays.

Is it best to ride Kraken first? Just me and my 12 yo will be riding that ride. Also can a size 18 mom fit okay on Kraken?

What are the typical weekday summer hours for Sea World?

Are the shows covered at all? Have been to SW in San Diego and there was very little in the way of any covering for the shows. I am hoping Orlando's is different!

We will be going to Sea World from ASMU. I am thinking a cab is easiest but I see there is a Lynx bus stop from both the TTC and DTD. Has anyone done this (Lynx) from WDW to Sea World?

Does anyone know exactly when Manta will open? On SW's site it says summer, but that's pretty general!

Thanks so much, I am just so worried about crowds and heat with my elderly aunt and want to have a heads up on how best to deal with that.

we are visiting from May 25th until mid June.

Any info. about crowds, best days to visit etc. would be great!

I'm interested too. I'd love to go to seaworld. My mom and I are going to Discovery Cove so it'd be nice to catch sea world.

We are going in June on Tuesday the 9th actually for our honeymoon! We are excited! I am not sure how the crowds will be but we are guessing crowded but not as bad as july or august.
We are booking the dine with shamu also...Does anyone know how far in advance you can book that?!

Crowds on week days----never a problem at SW . Only lines might be for food, Kraken, Journey to Atlantis, and Wild Arctic.

It is a big park so walking long distances might be a problem for heat sensitive people if the temps are really hot. Mid June probably means 85-90 with high humidity and an afternoon thunderstorm or shower.
Might want to rent a wheel chair to make going from show to show easier.
2 shows are indoors- Pets Ahoy and A'lure
The rest are in stadiums that do have covered seating, but it can be really hot on hot days. The splash areas are in the sun.

The manatees, sharks, and penguins are all indoors viewing so air conditioned.

Wild Arctic is indoors. You can do the ride by walking through and just watching a film before going to see the walrus, polar bears, and beluga whales if the ride is too intense for your aunt.

Park hours are usually 9AM to 10pm. They will have the night shows Shamu Rocks and Sea Lions tonight and the fireworks during June. You might want to wait till 11 AM to get to the park to make staying till 10 easier. They still offer 2nd day free so might want to do one morning. Leave by 1, then come back the next afternoon to do the evening shows.

As for getting there. Taxi would be easiest on everyone. It is a long trek across the parking lot and across the street to catch the bus back to Disney I think.

Manta will open May 22( Memorial Day weekend) It looks really awesome. You will love Kraken, too. It is probably the best coaster in Orlando. People always say go first thing, but my sons always wait till Shamu Rocks and head to Kraken riding numerous times until the park closes. Even just during the fireworks you might get to ride more than one time.

Congrats on the honeymoon! I called Sea World earlier to ask about the dining, as we are also planning to do the Dine with Shamu. I was told that right now, they are only booking dining through the end of March and that typically, it can only be booked 1.5-2 months ahead of time.

I know I read somewhere that the dining could be booked 6 months in advance, but obviously this isn't the case currently. I plan to call back in another month or so just to be sure.

Really useful tips, thanks again:thumbsup2

Thanks so much for letting me know that!!! I will defintely keep an eye on there website!!

I wanted to share the e-mail I recieved from Sea World about Dining with Shamu!
Thank you for contacting SeaWorld Orlando. We always appreciate hearing from our guests.

Dine with Shamu can be booked as soon as you know what day you are looking for, currently we are waiting for inventory to start booking for June. We should have the dining available to start booking around the beginning to the middle of March. Please keep checking back, you can check over the phone, online or by emailing us.

Thank you for your interest. We look forward to seeing you

Thanks for posting, Ash! I think I'll start calling every week just to be sure.

What day are you going to Sea World. I think we will be in Orlando at the same time!

You're right; we will be there at the same time! Right now, we're looking at Sunday, June 7. Of course, everything is kind of up in the air until Disney decides to post the June hours. Then, I can start making some serious plans! :cool1:

A Sunday will have bigger crowds at SW because we locals who work during the week often hit SW on the weekends. sio the crowds might be bigger than during the week.

It's definitely not ideal, but right now, it's the only day that really works for our schedule. I figure that even though the crowds will be heavier, we will still have an advantage over most people because we will have done our homework. At least I hope that's the case! :)

Again, nothing is set in stone yet until Disney releases those June hours.

RabFlmom: Thanks so much for that information! I am not sure dd and I will get to go to Sea World (so much money when we have WDW tickets and Universal tickets) but my inlaws still plan to attend so I can pass this on to them.

I am hopeful we can go next year, we loved SW in San Diego and so want to try the Orlando version!

Maybe Uncle Sam will come through with a refund and we can still go!

Thats cool..We actually arrive in Orlando that day. We are planning on going Monday or Tuesday 6/8 or 6/9! Still trying to decide. We plan on taking a taxi from POP so on the way back we can make a grocery store stop and save the $$ from Garden Grocer so we want to go earlier in the week!

Glad to help. I have to add that all the things you have to pay extra to do are actually extra things and you can have a blast in the park without doing any of the pay as you go things. We usually just pay for food. A lot of times we even share a platter rather than buying 2 meals because we just don't eat that much and want to save money. We always walk through the gates carrying a bottle of water and sometimes refill the bottle from water fountains to cut down on the drinks. We even bring in healthy snacks to eat sometimes.
We only feed the dolphins about once a year and just watch others feeding the sea lions etc rather than buying the tray. Personally I would never pay for the first of line privilege in the park and would ride single . We usually go about once or twice a month but steer clear on Christmas week and during really really hot and muggy time of summer. If we go in summer we wait till about noon to get there and stay for the night shows-even though it can still be too hot to be there even then. The night shows once a summer are a must, though.

We'll be there June 1 - 8. (Arriving late May 31 and leaving early June8) My plan now is to go Saturday June 6. With SWW DSH will be busy and Sat. is the park of choice for Gay days so it will be busy. I'm hoping Sea World won't be as busy. Just going to have to take our chances, it's the best day for us.
