Any opinions on this place? thanks
Here's the review I put on Trip Advisor regarding our August trip:
Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay at this DoubleTree in August. We had the Salute to Heroes rate, which was incredible for the area. We had a non-tower room, which was considerably cheaper than the tower rooms. Our room was pretty spacious, nicely decorated, and clean. We did have to call about our a/c which was sort of clogged and not working well. Maintenance was up very quickly and fixed the problem immediately. Our hairdryer also died as soon as I turned it on and it was replaced by the next time we came back to the room. Also, no rooms were ready when we arrived at 11:30 so we couldn't check in, but we did get warm cookies and the shuttle schedule.
The pool area near the "non-tower" rooms was even nicer than the main pool, in my opinion. The kids had a great time here playing and meeting other kids. Plenty of nice families when we were there, many of them from other countries, especially the British Isle area.
We walked across the street to the Village Inn for breakfast each morning and walked across the street to have pizza once. The pizza place (can't remember the name) is in a shopping strip, around the corner. You have to kind of look for it, but it was excellent.
The walk to Sea World was easy for us, although I wouldn't feel very comfortable walking through the parking lots (sometimes completely vacant) without my husband with us. We did take the shuttle once, which was very nice and efficient.
Major advantages include getting complimentary front of the line passes for Sea World (make sure to get yours in advance from the hotel) and early entry into the park on many mornings.
Parking is extra.
Overall, we had a great time with friendly staff.
