Has anyone had recent experience at the Days Inn San Diego - Hotel Circle? Our visit is only for two nights - driving from Disneyland on a Saturday to visit Sea World before we fly home on Monday. I've done a lot of research for hotels, but everything is either very expensive, sold out, or has conflicting reviews.

Any insight?

What are you comparing it to? We stayed at the Days Inn in Mission Valley when we first moved down here. It was clean enough and everyone was nice. It was, however, right next to the freeway, which can be loud and noisy. BUT, it's super-close to seaworld and you don't even have to get ON the freeway to get there. (If you need directions, you can IM me.)

Clean, nice enough people, and close to Sea World - that's about what I needed! Like I said, it's just for the two nights, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't in a "bad" area and that it wasn't like...super sketchy.

Thanks for your input!!

We've stayed there and it's actually our preferred hotel in the area. It's a Days Inn, but the hotel name is actually just Days Hotel. I don't know why, but that might help you find more reviews....

Their rates are very reasonable. We've also found that if you call the hotel directly and ask for a price, it's usually a bit lower than what's listed on their website. The rooms, pool and grounds are clean, it's quiet, it's in a safe area. The hotel has free shuttles to/from the airport, sea world and the zoo. We've used the zoo and sea world shuttle and they were always on time. There's also a mall, probably 1/2-3/4 of a mile away, where the trolley line runs, so you can walk there and get on the trolley to old town or the gaslamp district. They also have free parking, free internet, small fridges, coffee pots and microwaves in the room. And the staff has always been friendly and quick when checking us in.

However, it is a motel, not a hotel, so keep that in mind. And the rooms are basic. There is nothing special about them. They don't have granite over the sinks in the bathrooms, the furniture and decor is a bit older (like I think our comforters were some kind of bright floral print, not white feather duvet type comforters.)

Edited to add: I just looked at your dates on another thread and the reason you're having problems with pricey/sold out hotels is that it's Comic Con weekend, which is a huge event in San Diego. We've actually stayed at the Days Hotel and a couple others during comic con and I'd just like to issue you this warning. Any motel on Hotel Circle (they like hotel circle because the trolley line goes straight to the convention center where comic con is) is going to be filled with individuals from Comic Con. They ***-play (or dress up in their costumes) so don't be alarmed if you see some "unique" looking individuals. They also stay up late, hanging out/playing games in the hallway/corridor area and can be loud/excited. If they're right next to your door, you will hear them. We've found hotel security to be very attentive in dealing with this problem if they get really loud but you have to call them and complain, they don't take a proactive approach to stopping it. We're going to be down there July 20-24 and we've decided to try the Town & Country hotel in hotel circle. It's directly across the street from the Days hotel and the rates are pretty comparable (they do however charge for parking/internet and don't have the free shuttles.) We've never stayed there, so I'm not sure how it is, but we've had friends who have who recommended it. They also said they're really strict with the comic-con people running around and being loud, so we decided to give it a try....

We stayed at the Vagabond Inn, hotel circle 2 years ago. It was fine, clean, pool, fridge and free breakfast.
It's an older motel but I would stay again. And the price was right, I think under $100/night.

Thanks guys - Carebee, I really appreciate your input. I didn't realize CC was that weekend...I'm not sure my sister is going to feel comfortable with that. I wondered why we were having such issues!!

I'm going to let her know and see what she thinks about it - do you (or anyone?) have suggestions for a decent hotel/motel with free parking and/or a shuttle to Sea World? Just trying to minimize cost, including Sea World if we end up going to the park for a couple hours when we get there Saturday (don't want to pay for parking at the park if we don't have to).

Thanks again!

I ended up booking the Best Western Plus Island Palms Hotel and Marina. It's a little farther out, but hopefully it'll mean a relaxing visit!

The hotel looks like a fun, tropical retreat! I think you'll be much happier there if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing trip. Have a great time!!!!!!!!
