For anyone who has flown out of Sea-Tac, what is a good hotel to stay at near the hotel pre-flight, with a shuttle to the airport for an EARLY a.m. flight? Since I can get FAR cheaper tickets out of Seattle versus Vancouver, this is the way we are going, but I'm deciding whether to leave home BEFORE the crack of dawn to get there, or to go the night before and stay overnight at a decent hotel near the airport..... Any suggestions?

I'm wracking my brain, it's been so long since I stayed up there before a flight....

Let me continue to think, I'll ask hubby too in case he remembers what's up there.

I used to stay at the Super8 up there b/c of their park and fly "package", but we had a rotten super8 experience last September and it's soured me on the whole brand of hotels.

We stayed at the Sleep Inn SeaTac this past April before flying out of Seattle. No complaints, nice, clean rooms and it was right next door to an IHop. We took the shuttle to the airport in the morning and it left on time. Be sure to let them know when you check in that you need to use the shuttle as they will book you in for a certain time.
Hope that helps!

I had a co-worker give a very positive comment about the La Quinta Inn and the park and fly package they offered at the time. This was over a year ago, but the hotel is still there and it might be worth a call. I seem to recall that they mentioned that the shuttle started running about 5am or so, but I can't guarantee that.

We do the same thing. To decide whether we want to go the crack of dawn the morning of our flight or stay over the night before, we see what we can get on Priceline.com. If the Seatac room was going to be $75 or more, we'd just get up earlier instead of doing the overnighter.

Last time we flew out of Seatac, we got the Seatac Doubletree Hotel, just 5 min. by shuttle. It was a 3* hotel for $55. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was super comfy. We'd stay at the Doubletree again for sure. Hope that helps!

You didn't mention whether you needed parking for your car for the duration you'd be away. FYI, we parked our car at the MasterPark. We booked online and got a free day coupon.

Thanks everyone! We do need to park the car, so I'm looking for a park and fly option, which I think is cheaper than paying to park the car at the airport for the 5 days. We got a crazy good deal on flights - it costs almost the same for all FIVE of us to fly from Sea-Tac as it would PER PERSON from YVR :scared1: That's why I think staying one night at a hotel (especially if they have a park and fly) is a good idea - still a huge savings :thumbsup2 Now to check the hotels.....

We stayed at the Red Lion in March. We had to go to the airport at 4 am and the shuttle was at the door waiting for us. We didn't even need to sign up, they did continuous runs all night long. So, if it wasn't there when we got to the lobby, it would have been back soon. It was a park'n'fly option, with valet parking. So, when we got back to Sea-Tac, we called from a courtesy phone and our car was waiting for us back at the hotel when the shuttle dropped us off. I would highly recommend the Red Lion.

We went last December, and flew out of Seattle for the exact same reason as you. The difference between YVR and Sea-Tac is amazing. Especially with the dollar the way it is right now. I tried to do a lot of research about hotels around Sea-Tac and finally decided on the Radisson. The location was the best!!! It is literally right across the street to the terminal. And we used MasterPark to park the car for our trip and that was right next door. So I could park the car and just walk over to the hotel.

The problem we had were the beds. It was bad enough that we were so excited for the next day, but we hated the beds. They were too small for us and I know a lot of people like the adjustable beds. I guess those people like camping as well, because the adjustable beds are just air mattresses. You put more air in to make it harder, and take air out to make it softer. You could take out so much air you could feel the wood frame. Well, none of us got a lot of sleep that night and it really made for a long first day.

I would suggest going to TripAdvisor.com and doing a specific search for hotels around Sea-Tac. I have always loved Hampton Inn's, and the one at Sea-Tac is quite close. Sorry, I haven't found a good one yet. If you find one, please write about it.

We stay at the Holiday Inn Express Sea Tac (6 times now). Nice hotel. Good breakfast. We booked shuttle on check in, and it was there waiting for us in the morning.

We stay at the Best Western Executel. Free (and huge) hot breakfast, free parking with a room rate of about $119 (includes parking up to 10 days), nice indoor pool. Its not fancy, but its clean and quiet. Decent quick shuttle too.
We always fly from Seattle instead of Vancouver, and find this place to have the best prices.

Thanks. For us the breakfast won't be an issue because our flight leaves at 6:15 a.m., so we have to be there REALLY early and usually way too early for any breakfast place to be open. We really need a place with a 24 hour shuttle (some don't start until 5 or 6 a.m.) and the park and fly.

BTW - I found the best tickets from SEA to LAX for $79 each way per person! I nearly fainted - we paid more per person in May than our total for our August trip!

Did you find the Virgin America flights that were just posted?

I hope things will be open in the morning inside the airport for you. At least a Starbucks or something, to get a snack (at street pricing, not horribly high "airport" prices!).

Yes, we used Virgin America. Very exciting (well, except for the very early, but we can deal with that, right??)

We used to stay at the Comfort Inn. They had a park and fly deal, but it has been so long... I can't remember cost or anything. It seems like it was 8 dollars a day to park, but the last time I did that it was 10 years ago... so I could be totally off!

The last trip we took (about a month ago), we drove up from Longview, WA to Seattle for the Virgin America $79 each way fare. We really enjoyed the service on Virgin America. We were even able to upgrade to first class for $50 - there is no other way to fly. The seats almost totally recline and the tv system is really cool too. In first class, the food is free as well. Enjoy your flight. We were delayed getting in on the way home, so we didn't get to our house until 10:30 (should have been 7:30). We probably should have stayed at a motel that night. Avoid parking at Wally Park (we used this one and it is one of the scary places where you wonder if your car will be there when you come back.) It was, but I will pay a couple dollars more a day to feel more secure in the future. We were also told that Virgin America is supposed to be adding some cities to their flights. Keep checking back! We are hoping they will add Portland, OR, as it is only about an hour away for us - as opposed to Seattle which is 2 ish hours away.
