Thanks, I know some ships have a stash you can just pick up and thought I saw recently where someone alluded to that for DCL as well.Originally posted by dvcreg
I think that I saw Dramamine in the ship's store.
We brought a bottle of ginger tablets and it helped to settle our DD's tummy. It was her first time and that initial bit of queasiness was easily taken care of. She hasn't needed anything since.
With most seasickness/motion sickness medication there are side effects. You should find something that works for you (you may need to involve your doctor) without putting you to sleep (or actually making you sick) long before leaving on your cruise so you have time to find what works. You don't want to be sick on the cruise, but you don't want to sleep it away either.
Thanks, I guess I was hoping they'd have the bonine that way like RCCL does. I'll likely do what I was thinking and Dr. P says, buy a generic bottle. Thanks.Originally posted by Dr.Mama
Dean: we just got off the Wonder yesterday, and our first day of the cruise was REALLY rough. Guest Services had free dramamine along with a sheet of instructions (can't give it to kids). If you go to a health food store, they do have some homeopathic remedies (patches behind the ear) and I heard that some folks on the Wonder bought bands that you put around your wrists (at one of the gift shops). I didn't see it as a huge problem if you stay busy, go outside as much as you can, and the rolling motion was wonderful to help lull you to sleep at night. Have a wondrous time...we did!!

Generic Bonine (meclizine) is available without a prescription. One of the best tips I received before our cruise was to go to a pharmacy and ask them to order a large bottle of generic meclizine (they generally have to order it because it must be labeled the way that nonprescription meds are labeled). It cost me about $10.00 for at least 100 pills (it might have even been 500 given the size of the bottle). This is much cheaper than buying the small packages OTC at the drug store.
