Sea sickness after the fact

We've all had the same problem after all of our cruises! I found that it really helps to take bonine for the next few days. We also take it the days we are in ports. It's funny because I very rarely get seasick. Landsickness is a whole other story though... the pesky land seems to keep moving!

The worst part is wandering through a store and suddenly feel as though the entire building has shifted.

I had this after both cruises. It mostly happens to me when I am standing still or laying down. Feels like the ship is rocking. It lasts about 3-4 days after the cruise. Not a great feeling but nothing that would prevent me from cruising.

Both my husband and I felt some after-effects from cruising -- I had no idea there was an actual name for it! It wasn't really bad, and it wouldn't prevent me from crusing again.

Here's what I don't understand: We were fine in Nassau and on Castaway Cay. It's when we disembarked after the cruise that we felt this oddity. Makes no sense to me.

Not to worry! After my post this morning, I can now report that all of us are saying that we don't feel it much anymore. I think that riding in the car helped us readjust, actually - I was afraid that I might have trouble driving, but being in the car made me feel better, and now I don't feel that dizzy/rocking. :)

Trust me, after seven years, this is anything but a "cool" feeling. Many of us with this illness are actually unable to work. But, to ease feelings, this is very rare. Most people have some rocking for hours to days after getting off a ship, and that's normal. Having Mal de Debarquement is rare. I am sure there are higher risks associated with other aspects of all forms of travel that it wouldn't make sense to never cruise because one fears they will develop this disorder.

My "cure" for this feeling (which my whole family gets after every cruise) is to ride Tower of Terror many times. It really helps me get over that rocking feeling, but then I get a "sinking" feeling:teeth:
