SDFP... Here now. Works! *Read Post #48 and Post #671*

Just to verify that I'm on the right track...I have an MDE account already with MBs for my family. I will soon be booking a trip for September, if I book the new trip under a new/different MDE account and get new MBs for the trip, I will then be able to use the MBs for SDFP from the old account with no tickets linked to them?

Back in January we went and I used old unused tickets that were cards, but thought those only worked because they had tickets linked to them.

Is this right?

So my very good friend is heading to Disney this weekend, armed with three of my magic bands and my three Chip cards from New Years 2012/2013.
He is pumped to test the theory, and to verify that my cards will work
If I have a reservation and tickets and fast passes already on the bands I gave him, am I in danger of something bad happening if he uses them at a kiosk? That reservation is for May.
There is nothing on the cards so I'm not worried about that

No danger at all.

The kiosk reads the RFID and checks the FP database to see if any FPs are linked to that RFID for that specific day. If nothing is linked, then a set of 3 FPs can be booked.

The only real danger is if your friend mistakenly enters a park by tapping your MBs.

:) Yes; it's the whole premise of SDFP.

Yes that is right. :)

Thank you, that seems too good to be true, lol, but we'll take it! Almost have to with as crazy as it's gotten there!

When you say you used old unused tickets that were cards ... are you using those tickets for admission on your next trip? Are they linked to an MDE?

If you have old magic bands from a previous trip and "deactivate" them for that persons MDE account, can those disassociated bands work for SDFP?

Deactivating a band actually has no effect on its functionality. You can still use it for FP+. I'm not sure why the option to deactivate even exists on the MDE. Do you know, Marcie or Hiro?

No we used them on the last trip, they were linked to a separate MDE account than the one I usually use.

So you'll already have an MDE with a reservation and new tickets that you'll use for pre-booking FP+. You can use the cards from your last trip for SDFP. You don't need more Magic Bands to get SDFP.

I thought it was in case you lost one and didn't want to worry about someone else using it to enter the park or for charging purposes. Then if they tried either of these it would show as inactive. I haven't heard of any use for deactivating in regards to FPP's.

I tested that last April when a deactivated MB still pulled up the 3 pre-booked FPs at the kiosk.

Perhaps deactivating disconnects the linkage to the secure info in the MDE account. Or, it really does nothing at all - we should ask Nick Franklin. ;)

Deactivated bands still work for admission. Maybe the PIN is turned off and they can't be used for charging, that would make sense. But "deactive" doesn't mean that a band is entirely turned off! :)

Got it, thank you.

We've decided he can't be trusted, and he will be leaving my bands at home and just taking the cards

My morning hearty laughter - thanks! :rotfl2:

Here's one I can't find... NEW, not linked to tickets, PURCHASED bands still able to access SDFP at kiosk?
Thanks for any info.

EDTA - clarify bold section

Thanks for any info.

I don't think an unlinked band has ever been able to access SDFP. You'll get an error message at the kiosks.

Oops. Sorry, yes, meant not linked to TiCKETS. I did realize would have to be linked to "alternate" MDE account. I will revise - - how about NEW PURCHASED, no tickets? Work for SDFP at kiosk?
