SDFP: CHANGES COMING!! Beware the 7th of June?!

Patient adviser needed! (I swear I read through the thread as much as possible!)

Here is my scenario: I have an old MDE from 2 years ago. The 4 old magic bands are apparently still linked to the MDE. I made a new reservation for a trip next year. Can I link the new magic bands that will arrive with the new reservation to newly created phantom profiles and use them as SDFP? Or will I have to create (if possible) a new MDE and start all over?

TIA!

nothing is linked to a magicband, it's just an id bracelet for the disney computers. everything is linked to a person so if you have 5 magicbands linked to you, they are interchangeable and still work so no, you can't put different fastpasses on each of your bands, you as a person get fastpasses and the computer uses your id bracelet to look up your fastpass when you go to use it.

So linking the new bands to phantoms won't work?

The exchange on this page is a good example of why it is definitely not a good idea to read through the thread. As it says on the first post of the thread, you should generally stick to the first page. Everything you need to know is right in the first post. It does require some patience to read through it, but your time will be well spent.

If you used that old MDE from 2 years ago to make the new reservation, then the new bands will be clones of the old bands and none of them will work for SDFP.

If you used a new MDE when you made a reservation for your trip next year, the bands that arrive will be linked to different profiles than last year's bands. (You don't link them when they arrive - they'll already be linked to whoever is on the room reservation.) You could then use the new bands for your prebooked FP (since you'll have your tickets on that new MDE) and use the old bands for SDFP. In this case, the "phantoms" will be the people on your old MDE. It would be a good idea to go in and change the names on those profiles to the middle names of each person so that you won't be confused when you log in.

A ticket is not required to get SDFP for phantoms (or any other profiles such as those from bands borrowed from family members).

I did read the first page several times; I just wanted some clarification. So the new MDE is the right way to go.

Thank you!

We used SDFP last year very successfully, so just refreshing my memory for this year. I have a set of old cards linked to a different MDE. I seem to remember last year booking at the kiosk in the park and then changing them around on my phone MDE. From reading the first post it sounds like you can just view and not edit on MDE? I could be wrong, but I have a strong memory of being able to change them last year, has this changed in the last year at all?

You're right, it's changed. It could change again, but for months now, it has not been possible to change SDFP without returning to a kiosk.

That's a pain!! I used to just pick whatever at the kiosk, then play around on my phone with over lapping times to get our best options. So if we are looking for 4 together I guess there's no splitting them up on over lapping time periods anymore. Too bad!!

This past April the trick was that you could modify SDFP in the website MDE but not on the MDE app version. (on the app you would get the, "Ticket media not attached to passes.", error, or something like that) We made use of this to help us shift our SDFP around during our Easter trip.

So just to clarify, that has changed and the only way to modify a SDFP is at a kiosk?

And how are the lines at the kiosks now that you can make 4th+ FP on the app? Our last trip in April missed that wonderful MDE enhancement by 14 days and lines were not pretty, thanks Easter crowds! Thanks.

Correct. Until around April, you could only do it on the website, not app. Then with the new big rollout (with tons of changes) in mid-April, for awhile you could do it on both. As of about early May it changed so you can't modify them anywhere other than a kiosk. It will allow you to go through the entire search/modify but when you hit the last screen to confirm you will get an error message. This is at least helpful to give you an idea of what might be available before you head to a kiosk (to help you determine if it's even worth it). Obviously if you see one Soarin' time available, by the time you get to a kiosk it'll most likely be gone. But if you see lots of availability for say Jungle Cruise or Pirates with times that might work for you then it could be worth going over.

And kiosk lines are usually non-existent other than in HS. I don't know why but there always seem to be lines there, especially by ToT and the one in the middle of the park. Try the ones next to TSMM which usually don't have lines. But other parks I rarely if ever see lines of more than a couple people waiting at most.

With this new update and changes that took place this past month, when I scan a phantom band and my primary profile with my 60 Day FP pops up does anyone know HOW to uncheck that primary profile? The update on the first page says to ask a cast member for help but is it as easy as just unchecking the check mark next to the primary name? If anyone has done this in the last few weeks a walk through would be helpful on that first step! Thanks in advance!

Agreed! A walkthrough would be super helpful - I leave tomorrow and I'm a bit nervous about the kiosk experience!

Don't be nervous! It will not be a problem - except that you'll have wasted energy being stressed about it! :) You may have to click an arrow to page down from the first screen, but otherwise it is as easy as unchecking a mark next to a name.

Whew - thank you, ScrapYap! Sounds easy peasy :)

Just a quick update on race tickets since I haven't seen those specifically addressed. We did the half marathon this weekend and got the "after party" tickets which we didn't use (10pm-1am wasn't happening after being up at 2am!). I tried yesterday to link them to another person I manage, and was surprised it let me do that (especially since the party was past). But it would not let me book FPP's with it in advance (since although it let me attach the ticket, it did still recognize that it no longer had any valid admission with it). But I was able to use it in the park for SDFP yesterday. So possibly look for those on ebay for people who are looking for tickets to use for SDFP? I know a LOT of the runners didn't end up using theirs that evening and the cards would be useless to them at this point.

ive read and reread first page. we are a party of 3 staying at OKW---will need 3 extra MBs for 3 SDFPs. i'm borrowing 2 MBs (not on my MDE - they are on my niece's MDE). my 3rd MB is an extra because i put 4 guests down on my OKW studio reservation, but we only have 3 actual humans in party. i did this in order to get a free MB.

it seems like a lot of posts on this topic are about linking phantoms to MDEs. i think i may be missing something. it seems like it'd be easiest for my simple brain to just snap a pic with my phone of the kiosk FPP screen in order to remember the SDFP that i get on my extra MBs. am i missing something? is there a flaw in the plan to just get SDFP with 3 extra MBs and snap a pic on final screen?
