SDFP: CHANGES COMING!! Beware the 7th of June?!

Leaving this weekend for a quick 3 day trip for the food and wine festival. I remember someone saying that you could take someone elses magic band (who was not with you in the parks) up to a fastpass+ kiosk and tap it to make fastpasses on that band without a park admission. Is this still working?

EDIT: Disregard this post...it got merged into this thread and has already been answered

These days, what's the best time to make the SDFPs? We'll be there next week, so I'm trying to work out my touring plans. For instance, I'm hoping to ride soarin at rope drop and nab TT SDFP, as we already have FP for FEA. Also wondering when to get them at MK. Hoping for possible extra Space Mountain or Princesses.

So I just want to verify that I understand all this. First of all, a big thank you to ScrapYap for all of the info. It's great!
So we have booked a package and will book our 60 day out FP+ on that package. My sister has agreed to let us borrow her MB from her past trip. She has no trip booked or has purchased any tickets which would be loaded on her MDE. Her MB have never been linked to my account. We can take these MB to a kiosk in the park in which we want to use the FP and just tap each MB to the kiosk and book up to 3 FP for that day. We should take a picture of the screen so we can remember what we booked. If we want to book more using the borrowed MB, they would be one at a time after we have used the previously booked FP. Do we have to use all 3 or can we book a new one after using just one? Then we would have to go back to the kiosk to book each additional FP.

Did I get all that right? Is it really that simple or am I missing something? I swear I read through the 1st post a few times. Some of the other posts are making me second guess myself. Sometimes I can over analyze...

Sorry if this is one of the many questions already asked and answered but I have bought my extra magic bands. I created Phantom people but on my profile for MDE. Do I need a complete different phantom MDE for this to work with Phantom people? I think that's the only part that has me confused.

From the 1st post:
2nd MDE for my SDFP bands (or cards)?
No. It's easier to use your primary MDE for everything. You only need one MDE.

I called to move my MVMCP date to another day and they luckily obliged. They voided the first set of physical MVMCP cards and are sending me new ones for the new date. The original MVMCP cards have not been linked to anyone, not even phantoms. Are they still good to use for SDFPs after being voided? I'm guessing yes and that voided is similar to having been used, but I wanted to confirm. I shouldn't need them on this trip since I have new ones coming, but I'd hold on to them or the future or find someone that could use them instead of throwing them out if they are still good.

Why not try to link them to phantoms, just to see what happens. They should still work for SDFP - whether you can link them or not. Let us know what happens!

It says they have successfully linked to phantoms, but do not show up under tickets (because there's no longer tickets on them). But it said "this can be used for all of your entitlements" or something like that.

That's handy - because you'll be able to see the SDFP you book (at the kiosks) when you're on your MDE. You won't be able to make changes to them on the app.

First of all, I've read over the first page a few times. I'm blown away by the knowledge and wealth of information there. Who knew?? We are heading back to WDW this March. Remembering something about creating a new MDE, I did and booked our current reservations on that. Then I also remembered we had some MVMCP tix from our first trip Nov 2014. I somehow can't find one of the cards. I went on my old MDE to see who the 3 old tix were linked to (4 of us going) and only one I could find was linked to my son. Flashback to that party and I remember that was before this thread with useful facts. At the time I had set up phantoms (which I have since deleted) for FP's for the party. I screwed up at the party and tried to use the first FP before checking into the party. The tix got royally screwed up and a CM doing all sorts of crafty things with an IPad and extra tickets fixed it. Flash forward to today. Like I said one ticket is linked to my son. I created a phantom on my new MDE and tried to link the other tickets, the second one says this is previously linked but I can't find it on my old MDE. The 3rd ticket I successfully linked to a phantom and it says the ticket if for MVMCP for Nov 27 2016! So weird?? I'm sure I can use this for SDFP still, or will it have any other benefits? Whats the best way to keep my SDFP's in order? Just use our bands from last trip since the RDIF cards are a bit screwy?

Sounds pretty confusing.

Not sure what was at the root of your MVMCP ticket trouble - possibly you reassigned the entitlement, then tried to enter with the original cards (which no longer had the entitlement)?

In any case, the problem wasn't using a FP before submitting your party admission. You could use a FP made on the party ticket at 10:00 AM (providing you had another means of enter the park that early). The admission system and the FP system don't "talk" to each other. They will eventually, but it could be a while.

It doesn't matter if the old tickets show up on an MDE - there's nothing wrong with the cards either way. It can be convenient to be able to view your SDFP on your MDE (after you book them at a kiosk) if you end up being able to find them all on your MDE. But that's not necessary. Just use the cards to make SDFP and take a photo of the kiosk screen. If you don't have enough cards, throw in a band. Or use all bands if you prefer bands over cards.

Note that you can't normally delete a phantom from your MDE once you've linked either a ticket or a MagicBand (or a card) to that profile. Presumably you were able to delete old phantoms because the CM moved the cards off their profiles.

We entered MK using our MBs and then got in line to get our wristbands using the party tickets. At that time the party tickets came up as 8 day park hoppers which is what our bands were. She sent us to iPad CM and it took a while for her to straighten it out. I as so embarrassed!! I remember her pulling out additional tickets and I'm betting she removed the MVMCP tix from the phantoms since in MDE from past 2 trips has tix listed with each profile and in some cases 2 sets of tickets (we've only attended one ticketed event). Only one of the numbers match in MDE. I guess what really has me scratching my head is the ticket I was able to assign for a phantom in my new MDE is for a party this November. Makes no sense. Any chance that ticket could be used for GLFP? I'm doubting it since the party date will be past when we go. Either way I'll take your advice and use the three tickets and one band for SDFP assuming it will work in March, thanks again!!!!

To get MB's free, yes. Just for SDFP though, they don't need to be on your room reservation, just linked on MDE (and really not even that unless you want to view the SDFP's you make at the kiosk). So you could buy MB's and then just link them as phantoms and use those bands for SDFP.

Thanks @ScrapYap for an awesome post! I seriously had no idea what this was since I haven't been to Disney in 4 years. I've read the entire thread, and read the first post at least 3 times to make sure I understand what it is.

If someone could please let me know if the following is correct, I would appreciate it. I'm second guessing my knowledge of SDFP right now.

DH and I have a package booked in December; hotel res at AoA, 8 day MYW tix, and dining. We have no other MB's. We are the only 2 people listed on MDE. I was originally going to buy plain bands online and decorate them for Christmas so we'd know those are the ones for SDFP. But it sounds like if I add 2 phantom guests under age 3 to MDE, I will get sent an additional 2 MB's for free with our 2 regular MB's. Does that sound correct?

I recently returned from a 14 day trip - -8/27 - 9/10. We used 2 sets of tickets purchased on ebay for SDFP every park day, multiple times per day. We hardly ever got into a standby line. It was truly wonderful. Until day 9 when my youngest lost 2 tickets -- then I switched to using 2 of my sisters bands - -the tickets were much easier to manage.

I know a few people had asked if the kiosks were open before the park opened -- yes, the kiosks in MK near Philharmagic were open on both days we had an early BOG breakfast. I was able to organize the SDFP before heading to the mine train.

Yes, I was able to find several selections up until the end of the day.

I was VERY surprised to find I had an any time FP on one set of my SDFP tickets -- the previous night we had an 815pm FP for Pooh, but the ride was down. We used this anytime FP the next day at Test Track.

Yes there were lines at the kiosks throughout the day -- especially annoying since every kiosk location I visited had kiosks that were closed. Perhaps there wouldn't have been lines if these had been open.

Many many thanks to all of you that have contributed to this thread

On my Epcot days does anyone know if it would be better to hit the FP kiosis for SDFP or to go on a ride first? will I lose precious time and be sorry if I hit the kiosk first?

Availability on SDFP is much better for TT than for Soarin'. I would like to potentially grab a SDFP for TT for later in the day and then RD soarin' while FP+ FEA. The kiosk is basically on the way to Soarin'. which would you do?

thanks!

In that exact situation, I'd probably stop briefly on the way to Soarin', especially if other family members are going ahead and you could possibly jump in with them before they got into the actual queue itself. Even if they have to stop and wait a minute or two for you, the wait for Soarin' (unless say Christmas week, in which case there probably won't be SDFP's left for TT anyway) shouldn't be that bad yet. If you haven't ever used the kiosks before or think you'll need help from a CM and it will take you more than a couple minutes just to scan 4 bands and grab TT (I wouldn't do any Tier 2's or additional FPP's at that point), then I'd wait until afterwards.

it is just me and my kiddo so only 2 bands to scan and he's 8 so I wouldn't send him ahead. I have not used the kiosks yet but it is not my first day at the parks - my first day will be AK where I will figure out the kiosks (not sure I will even need a SDFP there because I am doing morning EMH but I will test it out for kicks, maybe add in a second safari or something later in the day). I am pretty tech literate (I can make it through the self checkout aisle pretty quickly at the supermarket lol) so by the time it's my epcot and MK days when I will really be needing them I expect to be an old pro :)

I am going first week of December. In spite of touring plans "sky is falling" upgrade of the crowds that week by touring plans, I am expecting it to be pretty similar to the crowds when F&W kicks in concurrently with MNSSHP and maybe about like what it was over the summer. I've been watching SDFP availability for a while though - for example if I were at RD right now I could grab a 9:20 10:30 11:40 TT but soarin is not available until 1:40 this afternoon at earliest. I am finding that to be pretty typical. I've basically been watching so I can figure out how best to use the SDFP. Certain things just seem to be far more available than others with it.

Thanks! it seems like a small thing but just wondering if every second counts at RD for soarin' now that they added the third theater and FEA. We are coming from international gateway so it is a long haul and kiddo is NOT a fast walker so it is what it is :)

Ok, so I tried to start a thread to ask this question, but it got moved to the resort board and apparently SDFP is a foreign concept over there :sad2:

Recently I had to call to change a resort reservation. Long story short, I ended up having to make 3 separate reservations (I previously only had one at a different resort) in order to cover our entire trip and take advantage of the AP discounts that were offered. All of our FP's survived and I thought everything was as it should be...

Until I went to customize our (3 sets of) MB's. The first two sets are properly linked to my current MDE (AP's linked to this account), but when I was customizing DH's MB, I noticed that his name was wrong. Instead of his real name, it listed his fake-ish name from my other MDE (which we are using for SDFP's). RED FLAG!!!

So I signed into my other MDE and, lo and behold, the reservation is listed on that MDE too. Now, here's my question: Since it's only my DH's name that is wrong, is it only him that is somehow linked to both MDE's? Or are all of our bands from that reservations going to be clones from my other MDE? If that is the case, could I just cancel that reservation and make a new one under the correct names on the correct MDE? I don't think the accounts have been merged, since the other two reservations only show in one MDE. Is there a way that I can tell which MDE the bands are actually linked to?

I'm so confused....

Just have a look at the MagicBands and Cards page of each MDE and compare the little numbers printed on the inside of each MB with the number that appears next to the image of each band on your MDE (on the MagicBands and Cards page). That will tell you which band is linked to which profile.

It may be that DH has been cloned. But it's also possible that the CM somehow pulled the DH profile from one MDE and put him on the reservation with the rest of you from the other MDE. (In which case the DH on your primary MDE is not actually on the reservation.) Do the MBs on both DH profiles (on the two MDEs) appear as the same MBs? Or does one DH profile have one set of MBs and the other DH profile show different MBs?

Both profiles show different MBs. I looked at the Friends and Family section where I can edit profiles. My 2 DDs and I show 3 resort reservations on my primary MDE, which is correct. DH only shows 2, but his profile on the other MDE shows 1. DDs and I show none, which is correct.

All of this seems to point to, as you said, the CM somehow pulling DH's profile from the other MDE. I'm not sure how that could even happen, since the profiles aren't linked in any way and we use different names, but now that means DH isn't actually on the 3rd reservation. So how do I fix that? Can I just cancel and rebook that portion of the trip online through the primary MDE? Is it that simple? I hesitate to call and risk a CM merging both MDEs.

And TY for your help!!!
