SDFP: CHANGES COMING!! Beware the 7th of June?!

Will the only way to know if the changes have taken place is to see reports of things not working or trying for ourselves to test it?
Will you be in a park on Tuesday, June 6th? Do you volunteer as tribute? ;)

Actually, it's best to hang back and see what happens.

My prediction:
An unsuspecting DIS family, who would never use a FP loophole method, go into the park on Tuesday minus Grandparents who decide to take the morning off. Family enters the park and have GPa and GMa's MBs pocketed.

First ride is TSMM. So much fun and 2 of the kids decide to use GPa and GMa's FPs. Mickey's head turns blue and the CM tells them the additional negative consequence.

After calling Guest Communications to unlock the account or Profile, the member posts on TPAS to nicely Alert everyone that using FPs are now meshed with actual park ticket usage. Multiple posts ensue without anyone blaming anyone else. :goodvibes

I will be glued to this thread

Not that we didn't think this, but SDFP worked as normal in park today. No issues at all. I won't be trying anything tomorrow. Will attempt CPFP starting Tuesday by booking using rogue bands at the kiosks and transferring them later to my "real" profiles.

A number of people who are active on this thread will be in the parks this week. They'll post to the thread. And the OP will be updated when we find out exactly what's changed. Right now there's plenty of conjecture in terms of the details.

. . . . . If for any reason I cannot change the profile name, I am worried that I won't be able to use the ticket later in the future.
I may well be missing something, but how is a different name on the profile detrimental? Until it has biometric data added at park entry, it's not tied to a person, and taking it to a tapstile should still work even if the name on the profile is Ivanka Obama. As for fastpasses, the umbrella trick should handle that.
Am I forgetting something? (It wouldn't be the first time.)

I wish I was gonna be there on the 6th my rogue bands aren't linked to my MDE they are only good for the old SDFP methods so if they get locked it won't affect me. But then it wouldn't be possible to see if the account was locked for who ever sold me the MB's. I'm sure there are alot of others who can try this on the 6th where it wouldn't lock their account. We fly in Friday but we are doing a Daytona Beach Vacation first so I won't be able to try it until Monday the 12th. What's sad is my magic bands came in a few days ago... After I already knew they wouldn't work I laughed opening the packages telling my hubby what we're the odds that it would be announced right after I paid for the used bands lol

Probably I am overthinking too much! You are right. There shouldn't be any biometric data on the ticket until it's used at the tapstile. Since I have the Canadian discounted ticket and I need to show my passport to activate my ticket. It somehow makes me think that I have to show my ID when I first use the tickets. Thanks for clearing up my mind! :flower3:

Hoping to clarify what I presume is true. (Just joined the thread at the time of the big announcement two weeks ago, so this could be answered way back in the thread.)

I have a couple of old non-expiring tickets with remaining days which have been converted to RFID, but have never been attached to a MyDEx account. At some point, I'll want to attach them for CPFP, and I presume they can be attached to either a primary or a phantom profile. However, am I correct that because they are used tickets, once attached to a profile, they can't be reassigned, even if they have still not been used while attached?

This is not a show-stopper, as we can always use the phantom for park entry.

And yes, I realize that many things could be different a week from now.

Thanx.
I have old ten day non expiring tickets with three days left and also water park days. I got the rfid cards and assigned them to a second MDE a couple years ago. Since then I have used water park days but nothing else. I cannot reassign them but can change names. Not sure if that helps you but that's been my experience.

I want to make sure I have this right- I believe I do but have never attempted before, let alone with new changes.

So, Hubby and I are going, my parents are NOT but they have tickets in thier MDE.

I booked hubby and my fast passes for epcot in the am on friday June 9. I also booked 3 fp+ under my parents for the same day June 9 but at MK in the evening.

After using our 3 fast passes in the am, we are going to HS and will get a SDFP there. After using it we will hop to MK.

As soon as we use our one SDFP in HS- I immediately modify my parents fast passes, taking them off and adding myself and my husband.

Is this correct? Am I missing anything? This should work even if the new changes go through, yes?

You're correct if you mean that you'll be transferring your parents' FP to your profiles, one at a time, via Change Party. You won't be adding yourself anywhere, though. Just transferring the FP to yourself.

right- sorry. So I meant I go in the FP+, hit modify. Then uncheck both my parents and check both my husband and I instead, right? do i have to do one parent/hubby and I exchange at a time? or can I uncheck both of them and then check off husband and I right then ( obviously one fast pass at a time).

Can I do all three FP+ exchanges within, say, 5 mins? Or must we do one, ride it, then do the next one.

A word to the wise. Have you let any family members borrow your extra MBs for SDFP? Did you get those bands back? You might want to do that. And if you've ever sold old MagicBands or cards on eBay, you could find that your MDE is locked out if the buyer ever attempts to enter a FP attractions with one! Not a huge deal - you'll just call guest services to unlock. But it's good to be aware of the possibility of this scenario.
Never thought of that but it is interesting to note. If someone sold a bunch of their MB clones on eBay they could get locked out repeatedly (assuming people bought them for SDFP). Lol that would be ironic if they kept having to call to get their profile unlocked

you can only hold 1 FP at a time after the first 3 so you must transfer one redeem it then transfer the 2nd etc
Once in the line (after redeeming the FP) you can move the 2nd over-no need to wait until you get off the ride

Concerning a separate set of magic bands that were not linked to an "active" MDE but were able to be used to make SDFP once in a park, Is the bottom line that to be able to get a separate set of SDFPs on that band, you will now need them linked to tickets? Is this the bottom line of SDFP linked to a separate MDE that used to be able to make them same day??

I'm going to ask this again since I did not get an answer. I have a number of ticketless phantoms in my MDX. I would like to try CPFP in August if it's still working. Should I try to move my Phantoms to another MDX? Or is is OK to just keep them on my own MXD knowing that I can't use their bands for anything other than SDFP.

Since my used MB I bought are now going to be useless I'm debating my two options between buying new MB's or buying an extra ticket or two for NBFP... I'm not concerned about getting my $ back because of the discount price I could get the pass for but I'm worried if I assign it to my phantoms for NBFP would the person who eventually gets the ticket be able to add it to their MDE since the ticket was never used for park entry?

Not sure what you have in mind. You can't move phantoms, though you could try to delete. To transfer FP you have to be on the same MDE or connected. So all on one MDE is now ideal.

Couldn't they just go on their MDE and deactivate all of their old bands?

If you are going to buy new tickets to do this why not do it this way:
Buy tickets and make sure you order hard tickets. I just like to have those along with the code. If you later choose to use the tickets for park entry, you can use the hard credit card style ticket...you won't need a mb. After buying tickets, add brand new phantoms to your real mde acct. Attach newly bought tickets to new phantoms on real mde. No need to deal w phantom mde anymore except to book overlapoing adr's. If I'm wrong about this, hiro or scrap can delete this?

MY other MDE that I have has 3 "fake people" who have magic bands that I take to the parks and make SDFP with every time we go. (We are a party of 3). What Im asking is, with this new change that is coming, is there any way for us to get SDFP on those bands anymore (since they do NOT have tickets?). The 3 of us are annual passholders who have a separate MDE with 3 fake people with magic bands with no attached ticket.
