Scuttle's cove ?

I will be going on my first Disney Cruise in a few weeks and I have a few questions about the child care on the island.

Is there an indoor ,air conditioned area or is it all outdoor open air ?

If it is out door is there a lot of shaded space ?

Do they feed the children or give drinks while they are there , or do they have access to a drinking fountain?

Any more information anyone can give me on scuttles cove would be greatly appreciated as I have not heard much about it on this forum.

It's outdoor but has some shade. Drinks are available.

My teens love cc, but when they were aged for scuttle's, they didn't care for it. It may have changed since then, since this was quite a few years ago. Their biggest complaint was the heat. It can get hot on the cay and without playing in the water, they were miserable. Like I said, it's been a while and they may have added water features or a splash zone, but according to my girls, it was too hot to do anything so they just sat there. We've been back a fluke of times since, but they are old enough to go off on their own and not need the cove. Check it out when you get there and see, who knows.

My son didn't like it, either. It was hot, and they had already started playing some game and weren't including the newcomers in it. That game is where all of his-aged kids were, so the other kids were really little, and while he really likes little kids, he wanted to play like a big kid at that moment.

My boys did not care for it on our first cruise in 2012 when they were 9 and 10. They complained about the heat and the lack of things for "older" kids. They stayed maybe 30 minutes and have not revisited since.

Hmm , I was hoping my 5 year old dd could go to scuttles cove while I go snorkeling . Now I'm thinking it might be better to leave her in the oceaneers club on the ship while I snorkel and just go back and get her when I'm ready for her to enjoy the island with me.

Secured programming is all on the island for that age group. Onboard is only Open House and she would need an adult with her. I think a 5-yr-old would be fine at Scuttle's Cove for the duration of snorkeling. Maybe check your Navigator and make sure you arrive PRIOR to a scheduled activity (not 15 minutes into it) so she can be looking forward to it when you drop her off. Note that while I believe there are some water-play things to do, Scuttles Cove does not have access to the water for swimming, etc.

Scuttles Cove has added a splash pad area. From the DCL website: "Scuttle's Cove now features a new whimsical water play area: a 1,200-square-foot soft wet deck area provides fresh-water fun with an array of pop jets, geysers and bubblers."

The main thing I've heard about Scuttles is that it is geared towards the younger crowd. A 5 year old would probably be fine. A 9 year old would be bored. I think your 5 year old would be fine there while you go snorkeling.

Oh that's good my dd enjoys a splash area and it will also serve well to keep her from over heating. Thank you for the info .

My kids love it. They were 7 and 10 on our last trip to CC last year. But we are from Florida, so the heat was no big deal. Anyway, there were plenty of places for shade and for getting wet. And water available from a cooler whenever they wanted it.

Can you show up and ck them into the area any time or do you need to reserve a spot ahead of time? Not sure we'll take our girls there cause it's our first trip here and we wanna enjoy it with them, but maybe spend a hr or so at serenity bay at dome point too maybe if there's time!

My kids 8, 7 and 5 at the time loved Scuttle's Cove. We were there October 2014. They stayed for a couple of hours. When we went and picked them up they were playing with a water hose (controlled by a cast member). They did not want to leave.

At least attempt drop off for your child. It is a preference thing and kids have a wide range of preference.

You can drop them off there anytime, the same as the Club/Lab on board. The nursery is the only kids area which needs times to be prebooked.
