Has anyone every done the SCUBA program at the Living Seas? I know you have to be certified before you go and I know that Mickey comes with you on the dive and they take pictures for you and you can even buy a video.( this was told to me by a CM). I think the program is 3 hours and you dont even get a full tank dive . I think it is only a 30-45 min dive. If you have done it did you have a good time ? Do you think it was worth it ( I think it is around $250.00) I really just want the pictures with Mickey underwater:D

Thanks
Mishell

I was reading reviews on wdwig the other day and I had understanding Mickey wasn't part of pkg. but you may see him in tank. Everybody said it was great though.

the SCUBA program is something I haven't heard of. Considering the price you quoted, it is probably the same as the DiveQuest program, but you're paying $110 for Mickey to dive with you.

If you're talking about the DiveQuest program, sorry to disappoint you, but Mickey doesn't dive with you. My oldest son has done it twice, youngest once, and they both want to do it again.

Facts - It's around $140 (Disney Club discount makes at about $122. I'd have to check to see if Passholders get a discount.)

You meet outside the gate - to the left of guest services. You are taken in the back way, family/friends have to go through the regular way (pay admission). Your orientation program (behind the scenes) is about 45 min. long, then comes the dive. Yes, the dive is only about 45 min. max. They are video taped, you can purchase afterward. They have a blast going over to the windows of Coral Reef and interacting with the diners. My son scared a 3 yr old into tears the first time, just by blowing bubbles at him!

After the dive, they are taken to an upstairs lounge area where the film is reviewed, dive log book are signed, certificates and shirts are given out. We got to go upstairs with the gang the last time because Epcot was shutting down. It was neat to be "Behind the scenes" without having to pay for it.

What level of certification do you require... I assume it's standard PADI Open Water or better?

I'm planning on doing the DiveQuest this October, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on who to contact, how far in advance to book etc?

One more thing... What tanks do you actually dive in? I'd love to be able to drift up to the people in the Living Seas bit, but from what people have said, it sounds like it's done in the tank closest to the restaurant only?

DH and I did DiveQuest two years ago and it was such a blast. At that time (and they may have stopped since then) Mickey was in the tank with us. In fact, I had to surface because of some equipment problems and the CM's were taking him out of the tank. One of the CM's spotted me and very quickley moved Mickey to where I couldn't see him being taken out. I thought that was very cool that they "protected" him from the "intruder". LOL

The coolest part of our dive was that our children and grandchild were having dinner in the Coral Reef and had a table right next to the tank. During the dive a videographer follows individuals in the group and we got footage of myself and DH in the tank with our children in the background in the restaurant. I look at that tape over and over again.

DisneyDiver.......The tank does indeed cover the Coral Reef Rest. and the Living Seas. There's only one "main" tank. Some of our co-divers had family in the Living Seas and they got video footage with their family in the background as well.

I always wondered if it was all one tank - thanks for that!

As for protecting Mickey... The characters have bodyguards now - something that never used to be there when I started going to Disney back in 1990.

It's getting like the WDW Secret Service - next they'll have guys dressed in black running alongside the float in the parade! :teeth:
