Scuba Diving at Cast Cay

we are planning to cruise to CC in the summer of '12. *fingers crossed* that enough of you will comment on having a desire to dive between now and then that we will get to! :0) it will be almost 3 years by the time i go diving in the MR this coming spring (at least i hope i get to!)

The one thing Ive noticed about Disney lately, is that they limit liability. They used to have their own trucking operation,that would cross ship things from the east to the west coast and back. Things like the parades, ride and show pieces, or entire attractions.A lot of the things for the Cali parks are made here in Fl, then shipped cross country, either by plane or truck. They shut it down, and now use a contractor. One of the reasons I heards was due to liability. Same reason that the DCL/DME busses are outsourced. Worst case scenario, the contractor has to deal with any potential payouts. Disney (parks at least prob the same for DCL) all but came out recently and said, that they are looking for ways to cut employee cost. Its decidedly not the same company that Walt started 50 or 60 years ago.

So, Id say the chances that DCL will run a dive op on their own, at CC, Id have to say is pretty slim. Outsourced, they may do it.If they could find a reputable op to handle it.

If you ever make it to Fl, in May, let me know. A group of us go to the Keys for Sinko DiMayo, to dive and have fun. We have divers and non divers in the group. Any one else is more then welcome.

We too are planning on the summer of 2012 once the schedule is released. I can only hope DCL would bring in a dive op. Since there was one once, I guess it could be possible although the liability that was addressed is probably what is stopping anyone from doing it again. What I love most about CC is that the kids can safely play on CC while the wife and I can do a single tank excursion (or two tank). At a port like Nassau, I would have to keep the kids on the ship and they would feel cheated. I know, call DFS, my teenage children have been left on a Disney Cruise ship to play while at port.
