Scrooge McDuck won't let me plan another trip!

That's my new pet name for my dh... Scrooge McDuck. I wanna start planning and dreaming for next year but old Mr. Grumpy Pants (another nickname for him) won't hear of it. He speaks fondly of our trip last Sept/Oct but just won't talk about actually planning another. Anyone else have this kind of problem? How do you cope with someone not as "obsessed" with the mouse as you are?

O, Wow-for a minute there I was sure you were talking about my DH who absolutely refuses to ever go to Disney again. So, I go with other people.

Honestly I just go w/o him and go with or meet up with others while I am down there. I have done 3 WDW trips and am planning a DL trip w/o him. I am hoping he will join me in December for WDW... it will be 4 years by then for him so maybe he'll be ready :)

This may be one of those times when I'm glad that I am single.

Seriously though, I do live with my Dad who will be 83 next month and he HATES it when I go to WDW which I do all of the time. He has NO idea how much money I spend (it is my money after all) or he would hate it even more. He's the original Scrooge McDuck. He's been known to buy 19 cent jars of outdated mayonnaise by the case.

I gave him a Grumpy throw for Christmas and said "See it has your name on it." I was wearing a Grumpy sweatshirt last week at one of the parks and one of the CMs said "You don't look grumpy" to which I replied "It's in honor of my dad."

I don't know if it is realistic for you to plan a trip without your DH or not. Only you know how that would be received in your household, but I can tell you that solo or all girl trips can be a ball.

Since 9/11 my dad hates for me to fly as he is convinced I am going to die in a plane hi-jacking. I don't agree with him but it does make me understand why he feels the way that he does.

OMG, I don't remember starting this thread:confused: Oh, I didn't but it describes me and DH. Our last trip was Sept 26-Oct 4. We must have been there the same time. I'm so cold and to just be able to plan a future trip might warm me up, put me in a better mood anyway. I asked DH, if we get tax $ back, can we go? He said "No, we need to put that in savings" WHAT???? SAVINGS??? I wanna go to Disney World!!! I am so sad:( . Just keep working on him, whenever I REALLY want something, I figure out a way - even if it means DS & DD eat Oodles of Noodles and PB&J for a couple of monthes:p

This thread is too funny. I can't believe it was posted today.

Today, my DH pulled some sort of report off of our "Money" software, that apparently totalled up our Disney cruise and time at the World last fall.

While I would agree, we spent more on this vacation than we normally spend on a 1-week trip, however, we did things keeping in mind a limited budget. Our cabin on the ship was a category 10, we used frequent flier miles for all 3 of our plane tickets, used frequent flier miles for 2 of the 3 park hopper passes that we needed, we had a great rate at the Swan. While we probably could have spent a little less on our trip, we certainly could have spent much much more.

I guess if I could have figured out what his motivation was for bringing this up today - the discussion wouldn't have bothered me so much.

"I gave him a Grumpy throw for Christmas and said "See it has your name on it."

LOL my dh has 2 Grumpy t-shirts and he bought HIMSELF a Grumpy baseball hat in DownTown Disney last year!

"I'm so cold and to just be able to plan a future trip might warm me up"

That's how I feel too- just to have 1 nights stay deposit on a week would make me warm and tingly all over!!

We are doing VERY well with our taxes this year and dh wants to put it all on the equity loan (which is a mere $10,000- with a $100 a month payment and low interest rate) also our home will be paid off in 6 years.... we have no car payment or credit card debt.... I just started working 20 hours per week..... after having no income for quite some time.... and he thinks we have this huge debt:rolleyes:

Well, I'm still working on him.... I put a beautiful wallpaper of the castle on the computer, he said, "Gee that's a nice picture, didn't we sit there to watch the fireworks?" So then he gets talking about our trip..... he even asked me if Pop Century was a value resort. There might be hope, I just wish he'd let me put down a deposit on Pop Century!::MickeyMo

You can plan all you want, just don't set any dates until he changes his mind. :teeth:

We have'nt been to WDW for 4 years( this month. )
After 3 WDW trips in 4 years DH was ready to go somewhere else.
So last January we went to Punta Cana for a week. Carribean, white sand beaches and pina coladas. (check out the photos!) I Loved it!!! And, I can't wait to go back! I didn't plan a trip this winter because of our DD's wedding in May, but I'm planning a short October trip to WDW for my birthday. If he doesn't want to go, or isn't able to go because of work, I will go myself or with a friend.

If your DH doesn't want to go back just yet maybe you can go with family or friends. Is that an option?

Going w/out him isn't really an option.... he just thinks we can't afford it. Yet we go camping non stop all summer (I'd just as soon stay home waiting for a Disney trip) and we go on a trip (long weekend) each fall as part of an organization he belongs to.

Quote from him: "We could go back to Disney this year- if we dont' go camping all summer!" How do I gently say, "I'm okay with that." ??

I'm just going to work on him until he thinks it's his idea!:teeth:

I'd go without him also. Lots of Disers go the first part of Dec and most of them are solo. Everyone just plans meets to get together. So far dh is pretty good about going once a year but the past 2 years I have been going in Dec without him--he cannot get off work in Dec so he couldnt go anyway.
Dec has low crowds and usually some very good AP discounts as well.
