screwdrivers on planes?

I would assume that you can't take a screwdriver on a plane since 9-11, but my kids have games that will need new batteries while on the trip. Suggestions?

I have a lil nail kit that I bought at Claire's for $.99.I keep it on my keychain and I have never had any problems with it.I have used it as a makeshift screwdriver many times.

That was too funny! I have six kids so its been a long time since I had one of those screwdrivers! I will have to try Claire's this week. Thanks for the tip.

Depending on the size of the slot you might be able to just use a dime to turn it and open the battery compartment. I've done that many times.

Definately plan on taking one. The resort gift shop, or the front desk did not have one small enough our last trip. I had a bunch of light spinners, that I purchased from the Disney store, with no way to get batteries in them. So much for saving $$, buying ahead.

Are you planning on not checking bags? You can pack them in there, just maybe not in your carry-on.

How about an eyeglass repair kit? They are only a couple bucks and have a small screwdriver.

If I can put one in checked bags, I will do that - I thought maybe you could not take one at all. I have little ones who are nervous about flying, so they have Leapsters that they can play part of the time. Since they are new, the kids want to play them a LOT, and I know that the batteries will run out during a nine day trip. I like the eyeglass kit idea too - that is something I should carry with me anyway in case my glasses mess up during the trip. The dime idea won't work because the screws are small phillips screws. Thank you for all of the responses.

You can't take a screwdriver in your carry on bag, but you can certainly pack it in your luggage. Since you have no access to your checked luggage, you would be unable to use that screwdriver to hijack the plane; thus, they don't care about it.

Just change batteries before heading to the airport. Carry the spare batteries and screwdriver in your suitcase (not your carry on).

If batteries that are already in there are fairly new, after changing for freasher battereis, carry those too, in bag (still change before hand) and use the previously used batteries first upon getting off the plane/to your room, when a change is needed. This way no waste and you have covered all ends.

I have found nail files or table knives (just change the batteries at one of your meals ) sometimes actually work better than a screwdriver for children's toys.

Leapsters now have a plug in rechargeable stand. I think one cost $25, but I'm sure you could share it for more than one leapster. I'm not sure how big they are, but it might be worth looking into. If you're kids are anything like my son when he first got his leapster you'll be going through a ton of batteries! I know they sell them at Toys r us, but I'm sure you could find them on line too.

Great idea! Had seen that when I bought the first leapster, but for home use I thought recharging batteries would be fine. I need to check on this.

I am a HUGE Tennessee Titans fan so I have gotten to see him the past two years (just on tv, but I would never have seen him otherwise since I rarely watch other teams except in playoffs). He sounds like a great guy from the articles that I have read about him.

One of my reps went to collage with him. Plus, I too, am a HUGE Titans fan (Wycheck was my all time favorite).

Got to see him once at a game, DS9 3 times (lucky dog). Heard he is awesome too.

Kills me that I am still not his age, and to do what he can do would land me on my back for a LONG time!!
