Is there any way to fix this?? Besides buying a new DVD--or should I say a new Disney Collection of DVD's since the twins got into them and scratched a whole bunch of them.

Yikes, that sounds like a problem. I don't have any experience fixing scratched DVDs, but I have heard there are scratch repair kits that do a pretty good job. If you have a DVD burner, you might also try copying the discs...I've done that with damaged CDs and it worked. :)

Unfortunately with DVDs when they get scratched, because the data is so compressed, they are usually ruined. But you say these are Disney DVDs...fear not you can go to the disney movie site and register your dvd's and for $10 they will replace damaged dvds even out of print ones.

I use a dvd repair software that I was able to download off the internet. It's called Dvd Rx

ToyStoryFan---Where do you register your DVDs??? I really need to do that. I'm so afraid that an older one will get scratched beyond playable. We tried D-skins and they didn't work--our DVDs wouldn't play the movies with them on. :confused3

If the scratches aren't deep, there are motorized devices that can attempt to polish out the minor ones. They use a polishing compound and spin the disk for about a minute. If you get one, don't get the manual one, it's very hard to turn (trust me!).

Check Staples, Best Buy or Circuit City. There are several brands. I have a Memorex unit (it looks like a portable CD player) that works well.

It will also clean off finger prints too with just a cleaning solution.

The prices range from about $20 and up.

I didn't realize you can make copies of copyright DVD's. How do you make copies of these CD's? We use to be able to do it with the computer program and then it was shut down due to the copyright issues.

There is "special" software still available that will allow you to copy DVDs.

You can still do this if you download DVD Shrink.
