Scrapping current pics even though I'm WAY behind?

I am about a year and a half behind on my scrapping. I can't make myself want to work on the pics in chronological order right now, I'm just excited to do the pics of DS' kindergarten graduation and some that were right at the beginning of summer.

I could start in the back of my album (CM) and work my way back, and I left off with Christmas 2005, so if I need to add a page to make it come out right, that is not a problem at all.

Has anyone done this? I've always worked in order, but I've been hung up on the January 2006 pictures for about 8 months, and I really want to do the current ones while I have the ideas in my head.

Any thoughts? Does it really matter? When I get done (haha), the albums would still be in the right order.

they say to scrap your most current first because the memories are freshest. Which I agree with.
I also scrap what motivates me because if I didn't, I would never be satisfied with the finished pages.

I can only scrap in order. The Obsessive/Complusive part of me says doing things any other way is just wrong. But that's me. I have no problem with how anyone else does it.

As OCD as I am about most things, I totally don't scrap in chronological order. I scrap where my heart takes me. I just finished my 2006 album which consisted of me doing my birthday trip from April 2006 followed by August, July, May 2007, June, December, May 2006, January and more December. Now I'm working on Girl Scout pics from June 2007 back through December 2005 (in no particular order) and a Disneyland trip from 2006. I also plan to start my kitty album soon as well and that will not be chronological at all.

I have to scrap what inspires me or I have no inspiration. Plus, working on what inspires me helps to trigger ideas for the stuff I am struggling with.

I say do what works for you.

P.S. I also only use CM albums but I wallpaper so I make all of my pages outside of my album and then glue them down in order. It made a big difference for me in terms of productivity because it allowed me to work on things as inspiration struck.

Good luck!

I work on whatever I am interested in at the time. I have about 7 different albums in different stages of being finished. If I want to do something and I haven't started the album it will go in I have a drawer to keep the finished layout in. I scrap what I am interested in at the time not in any particular order.

I've always been given that advice, too - just start with your current photos, and fill in the gaps later.

And as the quote says, I kind of do whatever topic I'm in the mood for when inspiration hits. I have a case I'm keeping the really out-of sync pages in until I have a solid enough block of them to put into an album.

Thanks to all! I'm going to go with what I want to work on and see how it goes!!! I like the idea of wallpapering so I can keep them in order when it's finished (haha, like THAT's going to happen!!!).

I've always scrapped in order, and I think forcing myself to do that is what caused me to dread scrapping and stop for several months. Not worth it!

Thanks again, Steph

I work on what ever interests me at the moment--I find I enjoy being creative if I am not 'forcing' myself to do photos just because they are next in line-kwim??? And I use post bound or binder albums so it is no problem to pop a page in where ever it is supposed to go!

OMG!!! I must have it bad. I started sweating just reading about you scrapping all over the place :rolleyes1 I so wish I could do this, but I know it would drive me crazy. Now, sometimes I can stick to one of the kids books and do several months and skipping another kids pics that fell inbetween, but to skip around in years, well, let's just say there would need to be a padded room for me somewhere :lmao:

I'm another random scrapper. CJ's keep interrupting (happy interuptions!) what I'm working on, so I'm always jumping from one project to another. Nothing wrong with that!

I did it! I scrapped the graduation pictures I wanted to, and now I'm working on the Bowling Party from the same week.

Thanks!!!!

good job, keep up the good work!

I don't scrap too much in order either. I usually scrap all my pictures for the year and then go back and put the layouts in order. Since I wallpaper all my pages, this makes it easy. Then if pictures show up months later, I can easily just add the layout to the pile. When the year is up, I put the wallpaper paper onto the page. Doing it this way, is why I LOVE  CM's new Max Picfolio. It's side loading and I can just add my layouts and move them around if I want. :)

she's my paper pimp, and I  her!!!!!

I might be tempted to buy the new Picfolio some time.......

I don't scrap chronologically. I am to far behind to even consider it. I didn't start scrapping until dd was 8. I do some current, then go back and do older photos. That way I am doing some of each and it keeps me fresh. I am currently working on summer of 1999. Then I will do my summer trip this year.

I have an album for each year, top loading, and just put the pages in order. Though some years will end up with two albums, I don't want them to thick.

I don't scrap in any particular order or work on any particular album all at once. My goal is to finish my Disney Trip album from 2006 before we go on our next trip which probably will be in 2 years so I have time but I'm a slow scraper

Mickey8888--I have started on our WDW album from this year's trip, and my goal is to have it done before our next trip. DH is talking about May 2008, and I don't know if it will be done or not!!!

Awwww

I'm a paper ho and PROUD of it. :lmao:

You are SO funny! Then again, that is SO me!

DH was laughing at me yesterday. DH was helping me scour multiple Joann's for a Crop-a-Dile and came across the new DCWV Fall Stack. I ended up with that AND the Glitter Stack and then drooled over both of them all the way home. DH wanted to know if he should leave me alone with my paper so we could enjoy each other's company!

OMG that's funny!!!
DH was poking fun at me and my scrapping/swapping/DISing obsession today too.
It's funny, Lisa and I get together at the Dunkin Donuts in the seedy town that is 1/2 way between our houses. It's rather hysterical, "did you get the goods" "yep have em' here" "how much" "for you, my loyal customer, a great deal"

She's the best CMC ever!!!
Yesterday,we had a crop and DH surprised us by showing up with the kids. I felt like I was caught with my hand in the cookie jar! It was 4:30, which is when we were supposed to leave and my stuff wasn't packed yet. Lisa was ringing up my bill with all the new stuff coming out. We had to whisper totals and payments back and forth! It was quite comical.
