Scrapbooking yet ANOTHER Disney page?

Here's my question. I have a HUGE scrapbook (I mean bulging at the seams) that I made from our trip last year. I covered everything from food, rides, hotel, etc. We then did a Disney Cruise this year and I have yet another Disney album that has a lot to it, but I still have a lot more to do on that one.

Now we're going again in June. I'm assuming I'll be taking basically the same pictures. I mean how many pics are you going to scrap over and over again of everyone in front of the castle, or eating at the buffet, or getting on Rock N Roller coaster, or with a character?

How do you do it? I don't want my 2009 album look like my 2007 or 2008 one, ya know? How do you make yours different? I know my family will be a year older but everything else is still the same. Please help.

I probably have 20 books of Disney trips and Disney cruise trips. The answer to your question about scrapping the same things over and over again is - don't! I find, when I go through my photos, every trip is different in some way. For example, for a while, I went character crazy and my books were heavy with pages for each one. Then some trips are all about Christmas, or all about food, or have many memorable CM's.

I have one whole book about the Flower and Garden festival, one that's Countrys of the world , one that's resort centered - you get the picture. Even my cruise albums, although containing a set pattern of photos (all aboard, sail away, boat drill, pirate night, shows, pool fun, three restaurants, etc) are totally different.

It's not necessary to take the same photos over and over to remember your trip, although I always seem to end up with castle photos and fireworks photos.

I would make it more about the journaling. How you felt, nice castmembers you run into, planning, how this trip is different (or same) than others, crowds, weather, etc..... The stories have to be different.

You could do an ABC album, and make your trip like a scavenger hunt. Gather a list of pictures to take before hand and check them off your list as you go.

Or do a top 5, have everyone fill out a questionnaire at the end of the day, Favorite ride, favorite show, parade etc. Then weed out the pics to use those things in everyones 5.

here is a list we compiled for the ABC albums

I understand completely what you're saying, but it just works itself out, at least for me. I have 3 completed WDW albums since 2004, and all of them are different. Some of the pictures are the same, the castle, the hat, etc., but there aren't that many because the kids grow and we change. As they grow up, we do different rides and attractions.

I do find that I haven't been taking as many pics of the ride signs, outside of some of the rides, etc.

The album for the trip we just came back from will definitely be different, it's the first time we've gone during Christmas. Technically, it was Thanksgiving, but we went to the Christmas Party, the Candlelight Processional, the Osborne Lights, etc.

I hope this helps!

Steph

I'm glad you asked this questions because I will be on book #4 in March and I just wonder how many more photos of the castle I can scrapbook....

My solution was to create a book just of character photos to keep all those happy memories in one place (and seek out new characters we don't have pictures with yet!).

Additionally, each trip I try to do one thing I have never done before and then I create the scrapbook around the story of that new adventure. For example, our last trip we stayed at a new resort. That new experience is featured heavily in 2008 scrapbook.

DD got the Hidden Mickeys book for Xmas and wants to do a HM scrapbook for our upcoming trip.

On our last trip, I wove pictures of DD in princess garb in the various parks into a story about a quest. It ended with her 'receiving' a magical pearl in Epcot on our last night.

Now DS wants his book to be about an explorer searching for something magical (Indiana Jones-type.)

I have a few (5) Disney albums from various trips- often I combine trips in my ever growing CM books. Yes, sometimes I do find pictures that are similar in topic, but as someone else said our kids have grown and so have we! Love taking them.
BTW, welcome SharonLovesMickey to our great board. You'll find a welcoming group of people here, who are multitalented and willing to help out.:wave2:

We go to Disneyland usually every month, so I know what you mean about having the same pictures over and over. For us, we have a couple places that we take pics at every trip. There is one over by the tea cups that is a little door (about 2 feet tall), and we have been taking pics of the kids there since they were only a couple of years old, and now they are 13 and 15. It's neat to see how much they have grown by seeing them with this door each time. But we always seem to find something new to do, or I will have an idea for a layout, and take my pics according to how I want my LO to be. We have done the Western Caribbean cruise 2 times, but we did different shore excursions. We have some of the same pics like the boat drill, the sailaway party, etc. But this last time I took pics of the Hidden Mickey's. Things like the 1 elevator that has the Mickey hand that shows what level the elevator is at, or when we were on the top deck at the front looking down on a deck below you could see one. That way there are differences in our books.

I started to scrapbook after I had taken 8 trips so my disney books (which aren't finished) are a conglomeration of my last several trips. My journaling combines things. I know, not the proper way, but it seems to work for me right now.

I'm currently working on my third album and I would suggest not using the same supplies twice. If you have left overs use them in a different way or trade with someone.

You could change the color theme in every album, it could change by season or holiday.

Spring- pastels
Summer- brights
Fall- orange, yellow and brown
Winter- blues and white
Christmas- red and green
4th of July- red, white and blue
Classic Disney- red, black, white and yellow

You could also do some then and now pages, combining shots from several trips.

Good luck!

I think I have 6 or 7 Disney Trips scrapped. I find I still have lots of ideas. Each trip there is something different, resort, special event (MVMCP, Food and Wine etc). Also my DS is so young he really changes each trip.

I also find new papers, embellishments, techniques make the same subject (picture with Mickey) look different.

Im in the same boat where I now have done atleast 10 books on disney

4 from 2001- lived in orlando a year
3 from 2004- 2 cruise/wdw 1- DL
2 from 2005- DL's 50th
3 from 2006/7/8- back in Orlando
Plus 2 catch all DL books not counting 30+ trips scrapped in their respected years...
and my latest "disney" is a HUGE 8x8 book for the adventurers club

You get creative :) I find I dont use much disney when I scrap anymore- It gets added when new kewl stuff surfaces but for the most part- I color lift or pull from the pictures..

Well... admittedly we don't go to Disney as often as some here, but every time we go the kids have changed, the parks have changed (at least a little), the kids have new "favorite" rides... the pictures are always changing. Maybe it would be diffferent if we went several times a year or if my kids were grown, but our scrapbooks are definitely different every time.

On our first family trip to WDW in 2002 the kids were fairly young and were not really prepared for the trip (it was a surprise.... not a good idea for us apparently). DS was afraid of many rides (after I made the mistake of taking him on the Dinosaur ride our first day... WHAT WAS I THINKING??), but they loved the characters. EVERYTHING at the parks was NEW to them and it was fun to explore. So obviously that scrapbook is full of FIRSTS (DS's magic kiss from Cinderella, first ride on WDW Railroad, first Princess breakfast, first time meeting Mickey, first plane ride).

Our second family trip to WDW was very different. The kids were a bit older (2 years older) and better prepared for the trip (no more surprises for this family). They were willing to ride almost everything, still loved the characters, and we had a few more character meals (and discovered my family LOVES these!). There were new characters to see (like Mike and Sully) and they had kind of changed the park themes (but at the moment I can't remember what it was...). So the pictures are different and the journaling is different and the direction my pages took is different. More about returning to previous favorite and exploring things that they didn't try last time... and about growing up and being "braver" on rides.

Third trip was to Disneyland during the 50th anniversary celebration, so needless to say it was VERY different than our previous Disney trips and the scrapbook WILL reflect this (when I get around to doing it!!... later this year!).

Anyhow, sorry to ramble on and on, but I feel that without too much effort it should be relatively easy to make each Disney scrapbook a bit different. Everytime you go (unless you go many times a year) you will be able to find something different to focus on. Use different papers, different embellishments (they are always coming out with new stickers, etc) and you will find that your books are different! HTH...............P
