Scrapbook stores near Salem, MA

I know a while ago you guys told me of a couple of scrapbook stores to check out near Salem, MA, but I forgot to write it down and can't remember which thread they were in. I'm in the middle of planning the schedule and have to figure out when I can fit them in. I already have AC Moore in Danvers, but I can't remember the names of the other stores. Thanks!

Where will you be staying? If you give me some more details I might be able to help. We don't have TOO many LSS around here. The newest one ... and my personal favorite 'cause it's 2 miles from my house is The Scrapbooker's Dream in Tewksbury, MA. It's right on 38. You can get to it either off of 495 or 93 by way of 129.

I second Calanniebu's recommendation for The Scrapbooker's Dream (my favorite. I just made their design team - yay me!). It is a new store, and she keeps getting more and more stock in.

There is also a store called Absolutely Everything in Topsfield.

New England Eeyore will have some good suggestions - she's from that area.

I think New England Eeyore was the one who made the suggestion, but I can't for the life of me find the thread. It was sort of an off topic comment in a bigger thread. I've tried searching, but the stupid little search dog hasn't come up with anything. I thought I had written it down, but can't find it now.

I heartily recommend Absolutely Everything - http://www.absolutelyeverything.com/. Although that website really doesn't do it justice or tell you much. There's a grainy video on the "Directions" tab that shows a little of the store. (I was there the day they filmed it!) Not sure exactly where you're staying, but it's maybe 20-30 minutes from Salem? It's about 5 minutes off Route 95. Let me know if you need more specific directions. It's fantastic - one of the bigger stores I've seen because it's actually two storefronts. Everything you could possibly want.

The Scrapbooker's Dream is a bit of a drive from Salem - probably about 45 minutes without traffic.

Unfortunately, we don't have a lot around here - aside from those two I have to go to New Hampshire to find non-chain stores. There is a store in Arlington, which is not near Salem but it is near Concord (did I read you were going there too?) called Playtime Inc (no website). I almost hesitate to recommend them because it's like an old fashioned five and dime - packed to the gills and not well organized but you will find some really interesting things there. They are an overall arts and crafts store, so they have scrapbooking stuff in addition to a whole ribbon department, beads, you name it. It's a great store, you just have to put some time into poking around.

For chains, you know AC Moore and there is a Michael's on Route 1 in Saugus. If you go to Boston for the day, there is a PaperSource on Boylston Street right off Boston Common - It's not a scrapbooking store, per se, but they have some unique things. http://www.paper-source.com/ I was just there today and picked up some cute things.

Let me know if you need any more info! You will love Salem and Boston. I'm quite proud of my hometown. It's nice to know people really do come from around the country to visit it!

I've always wanted to go to Salem and Boston. The history has always fascinated me. Right now (I say that because it could change) we are going to take part of a day to go to Concord to see Ralph Waldo Emerson's house and grave as well as the Battleground. Emerson is one of my favorite authors of all time, so I'm excited. One of the days we are going to take the train down to Boston and walk along the Freedom Trail. The rest of the trip is pretty much devoted to Salem. We're flying into Manchester, NH rather than Logan. We saved $120 doing that. We even got the rental car for cheaper. And staying in Danvers. We may even take a short drive up to Maine the one day since neither of us have ever been to Maine. I'm excited. The history of New England is amazing. I love my state, but let's face it, Michigan history is a bit boring. I'm hoping that the leaves will have started to change a little. I love fall! I'm so excited to go.

Thank you for posting the link! I think that was the one you had mentioned that I forgot about. According to Yahoo its only like 15 minutes away, which is definitely doable. Now where can I squeeze it in. LOL And will definitely think about the Paper Source since Boston Common is part of the Freedom Trail.

We're flying into Manchester, NH rather than Logan.

Okay, now this opens up 2 more possibilities because there are a couple stores directly on the path between Manchester and Salem - just to be complete here.

Both are accessible via 93.

Danvers is also right on 95, so that Yahoo estimate sounds about right for Absolutely Everything.

If you are a history buff you will love Salem and Boston. There's a lot more than just the witches!

I'll keep my fingers crossed that the leaves cooperate for you to see the beautiful colors. They can be a bit unpredictable. The weather will be great either way though - fall is my favorite season.

One warning - the beginning of month is not as bad as getting closer to Halloween, but the traffic in and out of Salem on weekends in October is nightmarish. Haunted Happenings brings in HUGE crowds, so leave a little extra travel time accordingly. Weekdays you should be fine.

NEE: Thanks for posting all of this info. I live here and didn't even know about all of the scrapbook stores you mentioned!

I also TOTALLY forgot about Paper Source and Play Time in Arlington (and I used to LIVE in Arlington!)

I definately recommend going up to Maine if you have the time. ... or if you want to just go to a nice New England ocean town, there's always Glochester.

If you're flying into Manchester and take Route 3, you go right by Amandalinz in Amherst. Take exit 8 and it's about 5 miles down on the left (Carriage House Depot). That's a great store - has all the newest stuff!
