Scott Joseph gave Narcoosee's a good review!

It was our favorite meal in October. We're going back in a few weeks and that was a must do reservation for us.

I'm just the opposite, I place it near the top of my Signature restaurant list. :goodvibes

Ahhhh, I knew sooner or later it would happen; we share the same opinion when it comes to a WDW restaurant. I agree with you. :rotfl:
Well now I have to change my vote! :rotfl2: Just kidding - I'm happy to hear that you also enjoy Narcoossee's.

I have to say, sometimes these boards really mess with my head and make me doubt my own personal experience, especially regarding Narcoossee's and Flying Fish. But if I continue to enjoy Narcoossee's, then there's no reason to stop going. :goodvibes

I'm no expert on Narcoossee's, having eaten there a grand total of 1 time, :rotfl2: but I had the crispy whole snapper that he mentions in the review and it was really delicious. It was crispy and moist and had a great Asian light sauce (more like a broth). Very nicely executed. I've said it before and I'll say again, at Narcoossee's you have to order "right." I think many folks go there on the DDP and order the lobster or the surf and turf "to get the best value" and then they are dissapointed as those dishes are just not nuanced one bit. Or, they just don't want to put the effort into eating whole fish, which is a shame.

We ate there in early July and loved it. The whole Maine lobster was great.

Narcoosees is just very plain Jane.... not much different from any other moderately priced average seafood restaurant. The seafood there just doesn't compare to some of our other experiences at Disney World. And I'm not a fancy diner either.

The fried whole snapper has a fun presentation but I don't care for fried food much. Didn't get that. The food we did have on our visits in 2009 and 2010 just didn't impress us, good... but no wow factor. Surf and Turf, flounder, shrimp chowder... just so common. I even tried the lobster to see if a $58 lobster is any better than what is sold at the corner bar at home... not much better. It's lobster. What's to get excited about?

Now here are a few experiences at other restaurants the did wow us... All are reviewed in more detail with pictures (link below from 2010 review).

Yak and Yeti - Malaysian Seafood Curry.... this was so incredibly delicious! A perfect blend.

Brown Derby - Oyster and Brie Cheese Soup... at least Brown Derby takes some risk to be creative, and this was very delicious and big ol' oysters to boot. And the Black Grouper dish with golden beets...another winner. Fresh fish perfectly cooked. Underrated restaurant.

California Grill - not my favorite restaurant but great job on serving up an uncommon fish -- Pacific Monchong, a deep sea Hawaiian fish. It was delicious. Don't you get tired of seeing Mahi Mahi on every menu?

Flying Fish -- Numero Uno Seafood Place! The mussels were heavenly. And the yellow fin tuna so fresh and melt in my mouth perfectly cooked and delicious.

Narcoosees -- just doesn't compare! I guess Disney needs a plain jane seafood restaurant and that's exactly what it is.

Haha I understand. And I know that my opinions are in the minority regarding Narcoossee's and Flying Fish. Sometimes I convince myself that I'm crazy for not seeing what everybody else does in Flying Fish, yet every time it's the same thing. :confused3

Well, I agree with you. We've found FF to be totally over-rated and sadly uninteresting while Narcoossee's is under-rated and consistently in our top 3 fave signatures (if you avoid the nasty surf and turf!) every trip.
