Hey there!

Mr. FFerret saw scooters on a Bahama vacation video I checked out from the library, and his eyes really lit up. And it's hard to impress Mr. FFerret, I can tell you.

Anybody have any info on how to get these, prices, if Nassau is easy to navigate with them, are they easy to use themselves (I've never been on a scooter; he used to do dirt bike enduros :).

Any reviews or advice is most welcomed!

The only thing I've gleamed is that they're available at hotels there, but of course we won't be patrons.

We're going the first of Dec if that matters.

Thanks!

We did it on our last trip there. This was our third time to Nassau and it was definitely the best! We owe that to the scooter rental! It was the best thing we've ever done there, by far. SO fun!!!

You can find the scooter guys right there when you get off the ship and go through the little straw market place.I think they were like $45 for a half day, I'm not sure though. They worked, the people renting them out were a little scary, lol, but nice. I didn't drive one my husband did and I was on the back, but he had never driven a motorcycle before on the road and he didn't have a problem with it. They drive on the other side of the road though, so be careful with that!

I would definitley recommend it to everyone. We saw parts of Nassau that others probably have never seen. It was a really great time!

You have to be really careful on them. A ton of tourists end up in the hospital from scooter rentals.

Thanks, Favorite Auntie and DDreamer.

Bumping for more feedback--any more insight (good, bad, prices)?

I know this is a silly question but I gotta know--do I need to worry about scooter theft? Can I leave it unattended while we sightsee?

Be very careful!
The maintence on these things is something to be desired.
The throttle got stuck wide open on the vespa my wife was riding, and we are lucky no one was seriously hurt.
She did need x-rays at a local hospital. (a nightmare in itself)
When we got back onboard, we checked in with the ship's Doctor who gave her something for pain.
The Doctor shook her head and stated "anyone who rides these things are asking for trouble."
She also went on to tell us she sees people on every cruise who have had some type of mishap.
And oh yes, the scooter was slightly damaged, the shady guy who rented it to us started yelling at us as though we did something wrong. We lost our deposit. I was not going to argue, since we were on his turf and at a slight disadvantage. We were happy to just get out of there.
I shared this with some friends who have traveled to the carribian, and they have similar stories about these things malfunctioning.

Guess there's good and bad about everything... I was wondering if they allow them with kids? I'm by myself with a 5 and 10 yr old..probably won't allow all 3 of us on 1 huh?? Guess I'll be renting a taxi :earboy2:

I too thought it would be fun, NOT. my wife's throttle got stuck sending her into a metal fence where she was knock out, face bleeding, not moving, people called 9-1-1 when they got there they wanted cash to driver her to te friggin hospital. We battled. got to the hospital and they tried to rob my wife's jewlery. good thing I'm from south philly because I was going to turn the hospital up side down. on X-ray they said they saw something and would have to wait for the neurologist to come in, that was 3 hours later. we had to send the kids by themselves on the boat to pack in case we had to airlift her back to the states. thankfully nothing was found and she just needed stitches on her face. I told the neurologist start stitching because I didn't trust anybody else. Well, my advice is STAY OFF THEM MOTHER F...ING SCOOTERS OR RISK COMING HOME IN A BODY BAG.

I don't remember since I was out cold.
But we r crusin this sunday 8/21 and there will be NO SCOTTERS!
