I hurt my leg pretty badly the other day tearing my calf muscle and some tendons. I may have to rent a scooter while on vacation. Hopefully I'll be walking again by then but I'd like to have some information just in case I need to rent one. We will be staying off site this time. When we were there last time I saw some people using scooters that weren't rented from Disney. They had little sun canopies over them. Does anyone have a company they can suggest since I would need it for our entire visit not while just in the park? Thank you in advance!

If you follow the link in my signature to the disABILITIES Board, and then go to the disABILITIES FAQsn thread near the top of the board, you will find links/information for a number of companies (Randy's Mobility and Walker are 2 of them).

We used Randy's mobility for my Mom a few years ago. They were great :thumbsup2 They drop off and pick up the scooter from your hotel.

Hi ...sorry to hear about your injury. We used Scootarama this past September. They were great. We have used Walker in the past and it was fine. Look and see who might be having a special. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these. Good Luck...hope you heal fast! :)

I am sorry to hear about your condition. I hope you get better and enjoy your trip, but can you please(I am sure you will) watch how you drive I see alot of people get run into by theses things where I work. We just had to call for an ambulance yesterday when a little boy was standing still up against the hand rail feeding the trout and was struck from behind by a lady. The boy suffered a clean break of his left leg(bone was poking out). The lady was actually taken by the police and found out today she is being charged because she was heavily medicated on pain killers when this happened. A wittness that was next to the accident saw the whole thing and when she got of the scooter her purse fell over and out came the bottle of pills. So please be cautious. :thumbsup2  :thumbsup2

Just FYI: The canopy costs extra (varies by company - could be $5/day, could be $20 for the entire rental) and, more important, only 'work' if sun is overhead at the right angle, and generally need to folded/collapsed before entering an attraction queue. You're better off with a hat and some sunscreen.

I would agree. We have seen quite a few people with those canopies, but we have actually seen very few with the canopy actually blocking the sun.
