Scooter rental and DVC insurance

Looking at renting two scooters for the first time on Mom and daughters trip. Plan on renting from Buena Vista scooter rental and I know you have to pay extra for their damage waiver coverage. Does anybody know if the DVC Travelex insurance covers scooter rental or if it doesn't do I need to buy the damage waiver at all? This is new territory for me so any help would be appreciated.

I'm guessing travel insurance would not cover damages to a scooter, just as it doesn't cover damages to a rental car.

Don't forget to get insurance incase you run into someone. I have seen several nasty leg injuries caused by scooters running into others just walking along.

Thanks Bill! I never thought of insurance for that. Where and what type of insurance covers running into someone from a scooter? Their insurance only covers scooter damage I believe.

Wouldn't your homeowners liability insurance cover that?

Yes, your homeowners liability coverage should cover that, as it covers ride on lawnmowers, bicycles, and other non registered vehicles. Check with your agent to confirm.

Checked with our insurance and scooter rental is not covered. Apparently since this is not something we use at home it is not covered, even with an umbrella policy it is still not covered.

I know the scooters Disney had, have a Slow/fast key setting, labeled Turtle/rabbit (I think that what it was). Check the rental one you get for a similar setting and just keep it on slow/turtle, that makes it easier to control.
