Scooter rental advice

Unfortunately I am having some knee trouble and our family vacation is early October if I can't get it better in time I may be forced to use a scooter, I have never done this, any advice would be appreciated, Cost, recharging at hotel, staying on site at Hrh, delivery fee, what company to rent from or do they offer at Universal? once again any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the disAbilities FAQ sticky at the top of this forum. There is a section about ECV rentals, including feedback from DIS'ers who have utilized some of the vendors, and which are "preferred." Preferred vendors may utilize the resort's Bell Services for drop-off and pick-up, but there are other vendors with superb recommendations as well who are not preferred. You just set a time to meet them.

Yes, as was mentioned, look at the disABILITIES FAQs thread. Post 2 of that thread is bout renting ECVs. The preferred vendor information is about WDW - the vendors listed are all good ones and would also deliver to the Universal area resorts too.

Are the prices listed in the FAQ section for ECV's at the parks the current price. I don't know if I will need one everyday or if not at all until I get there so I don't want to rent from an outside source. The price listed is $50 which is what I paid last year.

I believe that is still current, but if not someone who's been this fall might respond. You can also take the names and numbers of the off-site vendors - if you decide you will need one each day, they can often do handle a last minute request. It will be less expensive than renting in the parks each day.

Yes.
It is up to date.
That information is updated when Disney changes their prices.
I believe they last increased the price in 2009 (I just updated the ECV and wheelchair pst in the FAQs thread in the last 2 weeks and removed the last price increase date from it).

You can rent from Apple for a week for the price of 3 days at WDW. Plus you know you will always have it (and the resorts can be a lot of walking + getting into and out of the parks can be exhausting.

While Walker is not a preferred vendor, I used them until I purchased my own ECV! I found Apple to be extremely rude when I attempted to rent from them so they will not get my business!! (I was having problems with my own unit and thought I was going to have to rent one while I had mine serviced) I went back to Walker and instead of renting one to me, they were able to help me get mine up and running again!!

TWO thumbs up for Walker!!!

I have used both Apple and Walker. I found them to be comparable in service. However, it was a long time ago for both of them.
