:confused3 We need to rent the scooters in Disney.
On one of the days we have breakfast reservations at Crystal Place at 8:30am, any chance there be one available to rent by the time my family gets through with breakfast?
On another day we have dinner reservations at Grand Floridian. Will they hold the scooter that I rented for the day while I go to dinner & come back for it?
I really can not get around without a scooter. We made these reservations when we thought that I was going to drive down with my own, but now I'm flying & need to rent it. Can anyone help me with these questions?

Check the sticky FAQ thread at the top of the topic page. It has info on off site rental companies. It is recommended that you rent from off site that way you can have it with you your entire stay and not have to worry about them running out. You also have it to get from the park back to your hotel and around your hotel. The offsite places will deliver the scooter to your hotel and pick it up when you are done.

There is no charge to take your scooter on a plane. I just gate check it so I have it for the airport!

Fortunately, we are also traveling with my 13 year old grandson. Unfortunately, he is mildly autistic and has a lot of difficulty with the Disney transportation, therefore we are renting a car. Hence the reason we need to rent a scooter in the park every day, rather than going to an outside agency and using the Disney buses.

Thank you for all the responses. If anyone can provide any additional information, I would be grateful.

Thanks!

You will be able to rent a scooter prior to your early breakfast ressie - or at least you were able to do that last I was in WDW (Oct). The parks have gladly held my rented scooter when I have left the parks for whatever reason.

As for having a rental car and scooters from offsite - It can be done. The scooters breakdown and can be transported in a large trunk or the back of an SUV. This is what we do now - we used to rent at the parks but that was just to restrictive, so now we rent from offsite

If you wanted to rent off site or take your own, but couldn't fit the ECV in the back of your rental car, you could always catch the bus while the rest of your party use the car. I know it may be a bit of an inconvenience to split up, but if it allows you to have a more maneuverable ECV that you can use at the resort, without the stress of worrying whether or not you'll get one each day, might make it worth it. Obviously I don't know what is best for you and your family, but I just wanted to give you all the options.

If they are very busy, and people are waiting to rent ECVs, they may not be able to hold one for you while you leave the park. I don't know for sure, though, as I use my wheelchair rather than an ECV at the parks.

Hope you have a great trip, however you handle it! :thumbsup2

I would stronly suggest that you rent a scooter from an outside company. The scooter fit pretty easily into the back of our rented van this last June. It folded nicely and fit perfectly. The cost of renting ECV in Disney increased when they increased the cost of the strollers a few months back. This, along with the convenience of having it outside parks, is the reason that I would always rent from an outside company.

I used to rent the scooters at the parks and I can tell you that 2 out of the 4 days I was left waiting on scooters at any given park. That's when I started to rent from outside rentals and its sooooo much better. Believe me, the rentals at the parks can go fast and if there are people waiting for some they will NOT hold it for you. You don't have to pay again but you get on the "waiting" list again and that can be very frustrating when you want to catch up with the rest of the family. I specially remember having trouble at MK, I think of all the parks they have the most scooters but they also have the most human traffic and the rentals go very quickly. I've tried Randy's Mobility twice, this year I'm going to try Walker because their scooters claim to have headlights and that's one thing I have missed in my past trips. HTH ;)

Thanks everybody for all the information. We have decided to rent a car and rent the scooters from an outside agency. With the information provided here...we called Walker and they were incredibly nice and patient with all of my questions and explained how the scooters are broken down.

Now, we will be assured of scooters at all times. Both DH and I need scooters - one will be in our trunk and one will go in our daughter's car.

When I was in Disneyland recently I rented an ECV from an off-site company. It was a Pride Celebrity X, which is the same model I own. Since the hotel with the convention was over a mile to DL I rented a Cheverolet Impala and had no problem fitting the entire ECV in the trunk.
