Hi, we leave in 6 weeks. DH got his foot hyper-extended, luckily not broken, when his heel got caught on the tire of a car he was pushing at work, dragging his foot under the tire heel first and forward.

We are staying at the GF and then split staying at AoA. We will have DD 13 months, and DD4. If he has to get a scooter, i have no clue about it all.

Should we rent one for the week, or get one at the parks? We are planning on arriving mid day at the parks, does that mean they'll be sold out? If we rented one, how would it get to the AoA for the latter half of our trip? Would it fit in a standard room? We wouldn't be able to use the boat from GF to MK as planned. We'd have to go to the monorail, which may not be running mid day when we are heading to the parks. Has FP+ changed how CM's handle scooters? When my dad went with us and had a scooter, most rides they escorted us to the front of the line. Is that the case still?

Thank you

Get one for the whole week from an off site rental company (see sticky for list of companies Disney allows to drop off scooters without guest being present). Distances at the resorts are long, walks in from the bus/monorail etc are long. Plus it is cheaper and you are guaranteed to get one (sometimes the parks run out). I believe you can take it on the boat from GF (but not sure, someone else will chime in soon, hopefully).
It should fit in a standard room. You may need to ask to a have the table removed or perhaps move it yourself to a corner.
Scooters are non longer given front of line access. There are a couple of rides that you will be given a different entrance to use (Spaceship Earth for one).

For a split stay, you would get the scooter (or wheelchair) to the second resort using the same route that someone who can walk would travel between those resorts. Example only: Take bus from resort #1 to a park, then transfer to a bus to resort #2.

In actuality you would usually spend the day at the park at which you made the transfer.

Wheelchairs and scooter users were never officially given front of the line access. In the past some ride CMs admitted them quite promptly to simplify their managing the ride crowds.

Buses are run when the resort monorail or the Epcot monorail are out of service.

O P, have a good read through the FAQ sticky here:http://www.disboards.com/threads/di...disabled-1st-trip-next-trip-wish-trip.595713/

It has the list of vendors to rent ecvs from. Posts 11 and 18-20 discuss what you need to know about ride accessibility.

As for changing resorts, contact Bell Services at your resort. They will transfer your luggage. Most people do this, check out of their first resort, go to a park for the day, then go to their new resort to check in. Your luggage won't be available til late afternoon anyway. WDW transportation will get you to the parks and then your new resort.
