I'm planning a trip to Disney in December and wasn't planning on visiting Universal, however my daughter just discovered Scooby Doo.

What type of attractions are there for Scooby Doo ? Are there characters? Are they in the Studio or IOA ?

Any information is greatly appreciated...

We were there on Saturday and my DD had her picture taken with Scooby and Shaggy in front of their "van" (forget the official name!). They were right inside of Woody Woodpecker land at Universal. I don't think there are any rides or shows dedicated to Scooby, but other experts might know better.

The Mystery Machine...I think...But there are no other rides/shows featuring Scooby Doo.

Yes, Scooby was there in full force at the edge of the Hanna Barbera attraction. You don't have to do the attraction, and you can walk trhough the store to get to it.

There is a ghost backdrop, and it was fun! My daughter loved meeting Scooby!

The Mystery Machine was in the street near the Hat store in USF.

I think Scooby also puts in appearances at the character meals at the resort hotels. You don't have to be a resort guest, so she could get to see Scooby without you having to pay park admission.

What character meals are available at the resorts? We are staying at RPH and haven't heard of any charater meals. Would like to do one though.

Oh no! This is the first I've heard of this...why is it closing down? I was looking forward to riding it this time...the last two times I was there I didn't get to (in 97 I had a baby in a frontpack and in 2000 I had a nervous 6yo who didn't want to ride so we sat in the front).

> Hanna Barbera is closing to make way for Jimmy Neutron.

Can you believe this? Jimmy Neutron, a one-pic. pony who will be forgotton this time next year replacing characters that have given, and will continue to give, years of popular fun 'n' laughter. Much like Shrek going in next door, really. I wish they'd wait and see if these products have any staying power before committing to produce attractions out of them that will be around for the next 10 years.

I couldn't agree any more with you, Scooby Doo has once again entertained another generation of Americans....

Jimmy who ????

I also agree about "Jimmy Who?" versus beloved Scooby Doo, but Shrek...that's another story. I'm sure we have a classic with staying power there. We (adults included) could watch it daily around here. I can't wait to show my kids "It's A Small World" on our first family trip to Disney World now. I still burst out laughing when we see that part of the movie and have had to explain it to my surprised family who've never been. I'm really hoping we'll get to see a Shrek character on our surprise added days to Universal this trip. We're there too early for the new Shrek attraction.

My 2 cents.:)

Jimmy Neutron has been added as a Nickelodeon character and also has a series on Nick TV on Fridays evenings.

Jimmy is a new character (maybe not so new?) that will be hoping for longevity.

We're missing out, too! Our trip is not until November.

What is the "Shrek" thing supposed to be...and when will it open?

I chuckled when I read this...we were at Busch Gardens over the weekend and for the last ride of the night, my kids were hitting the Stanley Falls Flume ride (sorry if I don't have the name right). The park was dead at this point. My youngest son (Alex, 8) entered the empty queue area and began running through all of the metal queues, weaving and weaving...instead of just walking straight through to the ride. Just like the freaked out character in Shrek did...it was SO funny, but I had to put a stop to it because he only had 5 minutes and this could have gone on for hours!

I loved Shrek and look forward to the new attraction. :) I didn't personally care for The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera and I know my kids are looking forward to the new Jimmy Neutron ride.
I hope it's something that we'll want to ride over and over! :)

Shrek will be T2 all over again with live action and 3D action along with Oger Smellavision where you can smell what's there.

I have a feeling the smells associated with Oger Smellavision will be nowhere near as pleasant as the old orange grove smell from Horizons!

Earwax in 3D...Can't wait!

Should be fun, fun, fun! :) :bounce: :)
