Scissors allowed in parks??

I'm not sure exactly what security is looking for... I would like to bring some scissors for moleskin etc. But not sure if they would be confiscated (like when flying) or if Disney is just looking for real weapons and drugs.

I'm thinking a small pair of kitchen scissors about 2 1/2" shears that have a pointed end. If that is going to be a problem how about a pair of children's scissors with blunt ends or nail scissors?

I just don't want to bring them to have them taken.

As a fellow moleskin user who could not survive a disney trip without it, I'd suggest cutting the moleskin into useable size pieces before entering the park. That way you don't need to add scissors to your bag. Why carry around one more thing?

We have very different sized feet! I'd feel much better if I could cut it as needed. I find if I don't get it right to fit the area it doesn't stay as well. I'm not suspecting we will run into problems as our shoes are pretty broken in, but you never know! So I'm not sure where the blister might occur.

Our Dollar Tree had folding scissors. They came 2 pairs for a dollar. One pair is about 3 inches when open, the other is about 2 inches when open. They work great and no risk of being stabbed with my own weapon!

how about a small pair of scissors made for cutting bandages, the kind with the rounded tips...usually found at Walgreens or CVS, etc...where the bandages are.

I agree with the folding scissors suggestion! I always keep a small pair of fold-up scissors in my purse and they're wonderful. They're only about two or three inches long so they're not very noticeable. In our past few trips, I've taken the fold-up scissors and put it in the box with the moleskin and have never been asked to get rid of them.

I can't promise the little fold-up scissors or any other scissors are "allowed" in the park. The first time I took them, I didn't even think about the possibility of them not being allowed - all I thought of was that I needed something small and lightweight to cut up the moleskin. But sinced then, I've read of people having pocketknives being taken away. And this year, my little box of moleskin fell apart and now I can only find the moleskin in clear, plastic packages. So I've been thinking about just cutting up various sizes and just carrying that instead for this trip. The scissors aren't sharp enough to hurt anyone, but they're so useful that I'd hate to have to throw them away if security told me I couldn't bring them in. I just know they haven't noticed them in the past because they've been stuck in that box of moleskin and no one has ever bothered opening it up.

As for the blunt, kids' scissors, I don't think they'd be sharp enough to cut up the moleskin. It's thick stuff!

We were behind someone who had a small pair of scissors in their bag at the entrance to EPCOT and the scissors were not allowed in.

Now if you had them in your pocket........

Our child ones are Fiskars so they are fairly sharp. Hmmm pocket eh? No metal detector? I don't mind them being taken if I can pick them up later... but the darn scissors are about $7 and my DD would be PO'ED if I had to toss them!

I had a pair of round-tip kiddie scissors that I got for $1 at a back to school supply sale. I stuck them in my bag and no one asked me to take them out at any of the parks. Whether they just weren't seen or what, I'm not sure. But I went with a $1 pair so it wouldn't matter if they were tossed! And the $1 pair was fine for cutting the moleskin.

This doesn't look great but I cut moleskin and adhered it to the back of my shoes and folded it over the edge where I would tend to get friction blisters. This way I don't have to worry about the moleskin slipping off of my skin. If it makes wearing the shoes less painful, I really don't mind the look. I cut another few pieces to place over my toes where these particular loafers seams lie causing pain. I'm not wearing these to WDW though. For that trip, I'm bringing my Shape up athletic shoes and Mary Janes.

Moleskin is what some people use after they get a blister.

But I 100% agree with this poster - go to the first aid station. Why agonize over taking something in when a simple answer is just to use a free service Disney provides?

You can get cheap scissors that would cut moleskin for under three bucks. No big loss if security confiscates them.

In addition, each park has a first aid station. I'm sure if you took your moleskin there, they'd be more than happy to assist you in cutting them.
