the unofficial guides says there food is horrible. we went 10 years ago and enjoyed it. is it so bad now. i have a ps that night for sci fi.

also our other ps's crystal palace for break
chef mickey dinner
cape may clam bake
hoop de doo
sci fi

looks like we are now staying 9 nights. first night in villa. might have a couple of down days. 7 days in disney if we come and go and take breaks at the villa and pool.

need 1 night just for dh and i and teens will sit.

looking for other places to eat with everyone 5,8 and two 16 year olds.

any suggestions. then we might hit a park or just watch fireworks. not the most expensive with kids. we are going next week also

We went to Sci Fi this past March and really enjoyed it. It was my DH's favorite meal (I think he got a ruben), and although my DS only got a hot dog...I've never seen him clean his plate like he did there. I think I got a bacon cheeseburger, and I thought it was great.

We did Chef Mickey's for dinner and thought that was great too!

Maybe you could try Ohana's? or maybe Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney?

Good luck with your plans!!

We ate there last week and the food was fine.

My chili was good, not my style, but still good. The fried catfish was fine. It tasted like popcorn but it wasnt bad.

Wife spinach and artichoke dip was really good. Very cheesy. Her chicken sandwish was dry but not too bad

BIL loved his steak
Friend had great onion rings and like his entree (I forget what it was)

We gt 4 different desserts and none were bad, although the apple crisp was kinda weird.

If there was any complaint that we had it would be the inability to turn down the speakers blasting in your ear

We ate there last week and loved it! It was our favorite meal of the entire trip!!! My dh had the ribs and just loved them! I had the flat iron steak sandwich and it was awesome!!!

We really like it, DH loves the ribs. Service not bad either they really try to get you through quickly without feeling rushed. Were going back on the 11th. After all the DH can't miss Star Wars weekend.

We ate at SciFi in December and plan to go again. I too had read that the food was below average, but we played it safe and got burgers and shakes and both were delicious!

We have eaten at Sci Fi many times and enjoy it! :cool1: We always stick to the basics: burgers, onion rings, and shakes! :cool1:

Sci Fi has the best theme park burger anywhere, period.

At SciFi I've really enjoyed the BBQ chicken sandwich a number of times. My parents had the reuben and loved it. Their milkshakes are terrific! Last time I decided to try the steak sandwich and it was terrible. It had a very pungent smell and had a funny taste. Made me wonder if they accidentally gave me a liver sandwich or something.

Next time I'll probably go back to the chicken sandwich since I like it so much. ::yes::

We have eaten there 3 times and every time it was great. The Rueben is fantastic!

We ate there last February and will be back next month. It was my DH and both DS favorite meal of the trip...and their #1 request for returning to! We stuck with the basics--onion rings, burgers, and milkshakes. I thought everything was very good. :sunny: I really don't understand the UG's horrible ratings. :confused3

We had dinner there two weeks ago and I didn't find it to be bad at all! I had the catfish which was not the best as it had no flavor, but DH's penne shrimp pasta was very yummy, with lots of shrimp and full of flavor. We split the spinach artichoke dip and it was DELICIOUS!

I had been shying away from trying Sci-fi but it looks so fun - thanks for some positive responses! I think my family would have fun giving it a try but my girls are pretty picky - do they have good salads there?

is the rainforest cafe the same as every other rainforest cafe in the mall? or is it just disney?

i want to go places i would not go at home or while i was traveling in the midwest. now we are staying 9 nights. the one teen couldn't go and we asked another one. this is better his parents are easier to get along with.

so need to plan how many days the teens go to universal and disney. how many meals they have to meet us for. i can book a dinner just for dh and i also looking at which parks and where we might eat with the kids.

so thinking about 7 days since it is cheaper and maybe doing 1/2 day swim/park for fireworks. i don't want to pay for the waterparks. would have to watch 5 yr old too much. teens rather do universal. there is a pool at our villa and a resort pool at the villa. i want to read a book and relax at the pool. next time in 2-3 years we will do universal and water parks with the younger kids. 7 days too much at disney if we break it up by swimming at the villa(3 miles away) and maybe even doing a 1/2 day. am at ak and back to the villa to relax and maybe just watch fireworks one night?

interesting. my ufg 10 years ago you could only make restaurant ressies 3 days in advance. boy how things have changed in the next 10 year. plus this ufg is twice the size now.

The rainforest is just a chain, the same as at your mall. That's why we don't waste our time at WDW going there as it's expensive and not unique to Disney.

I'd browse through the menus and reviews at www.allearsnet.com to see what else jumps out at you =)

We went last week. I felt the food was average...The appetizer and desert was good... but even though the entree came out very quickly (we weren't even finished appetizer yet) it wasn't hot - more like luke warm and even parts of it were cool.

It's not horrible! I've never understood where this comes from. We've eaten there several times and have never had a problem with the food, although we have had to wait longer than expected for a table even with a PS. I think if you try it you may be surprised.

i've always found the food was ok. the prices were high. the atmosphere was nice. however i want something different not some place i could go to at the mall.

They only have 2 salads - a side salad and a chicken caesar salad. (Well, that's the case for lunch. Not sure about the dinner menu.) My sister had the chicken caesar salad one time when we were there, and she said it was delicious.
