I am debating whether to go there on the dining plan. What kind of things do they show - is it age appropriate? I know she will get a kick out of the concept but if it is lame movies and just okay food - I am not sure if it is worth it. What do you think???

It's just clips of lame sci-fi movies and commercials. No full length of anything and not scary at all. Mostly humorous.

We have always enjoyed our food there - lunch and dinner - and I think of SciFi as the best themed restaurant in all of WDW.

I don't think the food is that wonderful but the atmosphere is worth it all.
The movie clips aren't scary, they are things like the blob and 50ft woman.
I've not eaten there since the new year so the food might have changed a little. I'm sure your DD would enjoy it, Its a must with our family.

My DD4 wouldn't like it. She recently made me put "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish" into the banned books closet (joining "Wizard of Oz" and a couple others) because she said one of the pages is scary. For the Dr. Suess fans its the "Look what we found in the park, in the dark, we will take him home, we will call him Clark..." page she doesn't like. She definitely wouldn't enjoy clips of The Blob or 50 Ft Woman. I've also heard it is a little loud in Sci-Fi, so if your DD is noise sensitive, that might be another thing to consider.

I'd say it's not worth it. I'd rather take a child that age to Hollywood and Vine, where I know that the child can eat right away, can choose from a "kiddie" section of the buffet, and can get away from sensory overload for a little while. It's delicious for adults too, with lots of variety and unusual dishes to try.

I think Sci-fi is a neat concept, and can see going in for a milkshake or dessert just to see it. I'm not particularly impressed with the food, and I don't think a 4 yr-old would "get" the movies, which are strange and creepy.

It is a really cool atmosphere. My 3yo was a little hesitant about the darkness at first but really enjoyed sitting in the cars to eat. As far as the movie goes, I don't think it is really anything much they would even pay a lot of attention to -- more like a continuous run of clips and commercials. It is really neat just to try though. :)

I brought my DS(4 1/2) for the first time last Aug. He LOVED it. Had his 1st milk shake there which he also loved and he loved eating in the car. We went back to WDW last Oct as a whole family and that was 1 thing he really wanted to do again. My DD(2 1/2) really loved the place too but she's into monsters and dinos. We were much closer to the screen in Oct and my DD was really into the movies and eating in a car. I've only ever had a burger there and thought they were fine.

However, the wait, even with ADR's was very long on both trips.

Sci-Fi is actually one of the quitest restaurants I've ever been to. When people are talking it's at a whisper and the movie clips aren't playing loud either.

My daughter loved sitting in the car and thought it was very cool. If you go to www.allearnet.com they have some pictures of what the inside of the restaurant looks like.

We went at Thanksgiving and my 4 year old daughter loved it. She liked the movies and the cartoons that played. She ate more of my food than hers, but loved the dessert. She also liked the cars you sit in.

She also does not like Loud anything, except her own voice :lmao: . She had no problems with the noise level.
