Sci-Fi vs. Mama Melrose's

Mama Melrose.

I disliked both of them last time I tried them but I would give Mama Melrose another shot as my issue with it was the service not the food.

The only good experience I have had at DHS with TS restaurants is a 50's PT.

Mama Melrose or Sci-Fi ... hmm. I gotta tell you between the two I'd pick Sci-Fi!

Sci-Fi may not have a lot of different items on the menu ... at least not as many as others may have but the food is really tasty and hits the spot!

Also, just my opinion, but I think the atmosphere is much cuter than Mama's! Come on, you sit in a little car and watch retro news reels and cartoons ... how awesome is that!?!

Don't get me wrong BOTH restaurants are good but if I had to pick I'd choose Sci-Fi EVERY time!

Sci-Fi for sure. The atmosphere is amazing! They didnt have a huge menu, but the choices were good. It was, by far, in the top two out of the places I ate at in WDW. Its so unique and awesome, I wouldnt miss it. It is a 100% MUST for my next trip.

I am voting for Mama Melrose! Sci Fi is really a fun experience but for food...Mama Melrose. The food there is really good and it is such an adorable setting. But both are worth trying at least once!

Ate at both this past October, personally didn't like the food at either, the chili at Sci-Fi was horrible, the flatbread at Mama Melrose left a lot to be desired! The service at MM was pathetically slow! Atmosphere, Sci-Fi hands down better.

Sci-Fi is by far the more superior dining experience when it comes to atmosphere and ambience. It's one of the best on property. Food wise however, it falls short when it comes to selection. Don't get me wrong, though, the entrees they DO offer are very good as are the desserts.

Mama is better if you're looking for more of a good, tasty meal! It's smaller, cozier and quieter. So, it all depends on what you're looking for.

Me personally? I go to WDW for both the atmosphere AND the food. But seeing as every place I've ever eaten the food has been outstanding, I tend to pick atmosphere over food. And Sci-Fi is one place I eat at EVERY time I'm down.

Each ADR decision we make is based on the best atmosphere and most fun to be had. The food can be just OK and we'll still love it if it's a good time.

If I based our restaurants on the best food, biggest selection etc....we'd never return to Liberty Tree Tavern. But the kids absolutely adored the character interaction they had there and my 8yr old thought the history in the building was awesome.

That said, we haven't tried MM, yet. We will always hit Sci-Fi, though. Even if MM rocks, we'll hit Sci-Fi for dessert!

Sci-Fi for sure!!! It's just such a fun restaurant, the kids are still talking about it from last years trip. I never had a problem with the food, we rather enjoy it actually. Last time we went to Mama Melrose it took FOREVER to get our food and the service was horrible!! We had to flag down the waitress after waiting almost 30 minutes for just a drink refill....not fun with 3 kids under 6 waiting for a drink. So my vote is for Sci Fi!!!

we love the atmosphere at Sci Fi. My older kids order burgers and onion rings which is not on the evening menu but still can be ordered. They love it.

don't order the steak! Very dry and definitely not worth it.

I haven't been to Mama Melrose's so I can't compare for you.

Sci-fi for sure, but I think its best for food only if you wont a burger shake and fries.

Haven't been to MM. SCI-Fi was horrible when we went for dinner!!! Lunch seems to get better reviews though. We did like 50's PTC very much

I'm probably in the minority, but I like both places. Sci-Fi has a great, unique atmosphere. It's worth trying once just for that. I will admit that I hated it the first time I was there; the food was terrible. However, I haven't hated it since, so I'm not sure what the deal was with that. The food certainly is not gourmet, but I have found it entirely edible and even enjoyable, especially when paired with the surroundings.

I know Mama Melrose has received its fair share of unfavorable reviews (well, pretty much every restaurant has...), but I honestly have never had a bad meal there. As with Sci-Fi, I do not enter thinking that I'm going to be enjoying a 5-diamond meal, but I've always liked what I have ordered. Maybe the sangria made everything more palatable?

Sci-fi for sure. Can't beat the atmosphere. The food is another story. A word to the wise, stick with the burger, fries and chocolate (or any flavor) shake and you are good to go! If you just want the experience then go for snack in the afternoon around 3:00 and have ice cream or.....a chocolate shake!
