I know the cars fit 6 people, but we have 7. Right now we have ADRs for a party of 5 and 2 at the same time. I definitely want my kids at a car and not at a table. Will they let us put three in a row? I was thinking my 3 kids could eat in the middle row with us in front and grandparents in back. I can't imagine they would take up more room than 2 adults.

Thanks!!

If you have just a party of two...do you get seating with other families? Never been to Sci Fi, don't really know how things are set up.

Yes and more often than not, the party of 2 will be seated in the 3rd row, behind the two seats containing the party of 4.

Do you feel like your eating with other people? Can I ask for a table when we check in and skip eating in a car....can you see the movie clips from the tables?

I think it would depend on how big your kids are whether you can put 3 in a row. My boys are 11 and 9 (and very skinny) and we definitely could not have squeezed their little sister in with them.

yes, you can ask to be seated at a table in the back and you will be able to see the movie clips. We were a party of 2 that sat in a car bahind another family and we did not feel like we were eating "with" them.

I agree, the woman in the seat in front of us had very long hair that was partly over the back of the seat and in our table area. I'm sure it was very clean hair but it was not a comfortable eating situation. Now we make sure that we only sit in the cars if we are a group of 4 or 6 so that we don't have strangers seated in front of us.

Thanks for pointing that out. I too have long hair & that probably wouldn't have occurred to me. I'll make sure to pull my hair over to the side, if we have someone sitting behind us.

I guess that's how the seating arrangement will be for when a friend of mine and I go next month....

I just hope I don't have to deal with anyone with long hair that'll be all over my table...:scared:

We were a party of five. Our DGS who was two at the time sat in the front row with his parents. DH and I were in the middle seat. The couple who was seated behind us obviously felt they were "eating" with us or something because they constantly complained about having to sit in a car with strangers. I have short hair so I don't think it was that (LoL) although I agree that would be quite yukky. They just wanted their own "vehicle" apparently. It made DH and I feel very uncomfortable and our DD and DSIL as well because everytime they turned around to talk to us they were staring right in the faces of the couple in the back making things even more awkward. Needless to say the entire meal was not very enjoyable and our family loves the Sci Fi.

Thanks for the info about 3 in a row.

The last time I ate there, we were a party of four. We had "hitchhikers," but I don't remember seeing or hearing them. It certainly didn't bother us! We haven't been in five years, but I am so excited to take my 3 year old. He loves cars!

My DW and I sat behind a family last month and it didn't feel like we were eating with strangers. Actually, it felt like we were further away from the people we were sharing a car with at SciFi than the people at neighbouring tables in many other restaurants.

Thanks for the info on the seating, it looks like we'll be looking for another restaurant. DH saw a picture of the cars and he said NO WAY...I don't want to eat with stranger's backs to me.

i wouldn't let the seating arrangements keep me from eating at this fun restaurant. you're really no closer to anyone than you are in any restaurant. i have eaten in this restaurant every year since it opened, and never once felt intruded upon while dining there. its fun and usually any strangers play along with the hitchhike comments or anything else the waiter jokes about. I'd say you're much more involved with strangers at a place like primetime 50 than at sci fi. it's not like a REAL drive in where it could get quite awkward with strangers in the back, lol. ;)

Did anyone mention, too, that there are regular tables off to one side? You could always ask for a table. :confused3

.

there are also tables that have a car "front" and car "back". the table sits perpindicular to the screen so you'd have to turn your head to the side to see the screen, but they do accommodate larger parties.

We just ate there last month. I loved it more than I remembered! I sat in front with my two youngest (1 and 4) while my teen sat alone in the middle seat. We had hitch-hikers as well. I never felt like we were sitting with strangers and I don't think they were bothered by sitting in our car either.

How tight on these seats in the cars? Can pooh sized people feel comfortable in them??

My hitchhikers were Pooh-sized. The two of them seemed to fit just fine. They didn't seem stuffed-in or uncomfortable. I think the cars are pretty roomy.
