Sci-Fi or 50s Prime Time

We are doing both. Loved 50's on our last trip and want to try out sci-fi so doing both in September. The food was very good at 50's and the interaction was great.

Sci Fi is a regular ADR for us! Every time. We love everything about the theming and the food is good.
50's was good too and the theming was fun but the kids didn't enjoy the food selection as much.

We enjoy both and if we can, we book both. If we can only fit in 1, then the slight edge always goes to Sci-Fi.

Sci Fi is a regular for us too. It has been our first dinner the past 3 trips. Tried to talk my teen into doing Prime Time this time but no way it is her favorite.

Sci Fi is nice for desserts, too. Have a meal at Prime Time and make an ADR for dessert at Sci Fi.
We all loved the House-made Candy Bar!

We love sci fi and our family chooses it every time (the 3 times we have been). Our kids settle in and are so relaxed and quiet watching the movies and they enjoy having the milk shakes with their meal. I would like to try Prime Time too though, because it sounds pretty fun. We like the food at Sci Fi too.

I love this thread for many reasons. The biggest reason is we're planning on eating at Sci Fi but we're hesitant. My 3 yr old cousin will absolutely love the cars.

anyway back to the question. We've ate at 50s prime time cafe. The first time was fine. This second time was awful. We found bones in boneless chicken pot pie and the chef or server didn't do or care at all about it. My uncles food was cold but he loved it anyway. I wouldn't eat here again. I vote Sci Fi and I've never been there.

My family likes to do Sci-Fi for lunch and 50s Prime Time for dinner. 50s Prime Time has a lot more food per order so we always end up with serious leftovers to carry around, so it works better as dinner when we aren't going to be walking around as long after. We've never had leftovers from Sci-Fi but we still love it and go as often as we can. The atmosphere at Sci-Fi is really fun and we have always dealt with really nice cast members there. The downside might be if you have an odd number of people, someone ends up alone in one of the two-person car seats. Not a huge deal but something to consider. We've done 50s twice and had a really great time the first time due to the waiter being fantastic, but the second time the waitress didn't get into the "act" at all and it was really dull. I think you also have to decide if you will mind being jokingly picked on by the waiter. Ours even spoon fed us milkshakes and corn - luckily not together though :) I didn't think I would like that sort of attention, but it was actually so much fun.

50's PT for us. Good food at very reasonable prices (for Disney).

We decided to try SciFi this past trip (6 weeks ago), since it had been a few years since we'd been. I was quickly reminded why it had been a few years since we'd been. The food is average (not bad, but certainly not great), the seating is terrible if you have more than two in your party and you want to have a conversation (even worse if you have an odd number...somebody's sitting alone), and it's dark as night in there.

We aren't fans of Sci Fi though its been years since we have been. I would like to give it another try sometime, but can't get the rest of the family to go because they remember this...you couldn't talk to each other because its like sitting in a car, you all face forward, and the food was less than stellar. The film they play is neat and seeing it once, is cool. Seeing it over and over, not so much.

50s on the other hand has been on our must do every trip list since 1999. The food is always good(though we have been on a couple occasions that we were disappointed a bit), the antics can be subdued or way out there. I think a lot of times the servers can pick up on whether you want to play along or be left alone. Its a cool setting, set in the 50s, old tv shows playing every where, but the same, sit there long enough and you will see repeats.

Based on my personal experiences with both, 50s would get my vote every time!

We enjoy them both. It really does depend on your party as PPs have said. For our family we love Sci Fi - it is so different. If you are a large party and want to socialize - Sci Fi is not the place. It is dark and quiet - which after running around in a park is not a bad thing. It does depend. We love the PB&J shakes at Prime Time so if we only have 1 ADR at HS we go to SciFi for lunch and then the PrimeTime bar for our PB&J shakes. The best of both worlds.

We've gone to WDW a lot, and have gone to Sci-Fi many more times than 50's, primarily because of the atmosphere / theme. I'd actually give the edge to 50's for food only, and it does have a fun theme as well.

I'd go with the menu that seems most appealing to you, unless you know ahead that you'd much prefer one theme over the other: nighttime drive-in vs. 50's kitchen.

I've eaten at 50's and even asked for and received the meatloaf and pot roast recipes. I plan to try Sci Fi next trip. Thank OP for this post. I was torn between 50's again or Sci Fi and was able to make up my mind too.

I really like 50's! For some reason I don't like the videos at sci-fi. Too repetitive maybe? It's just not entertaining to me, I'd rather be at 50's counter with a book & a milkshake! Also love their meatloaf!

I haven't been to sci fi in 18 years, going in a few weeks. Have been to 50's 4 times in the last 18 and love it. Happy with both tho.. you won't miss out..

Absolutely love Sci-Fi. Their theming and atmosphere isn't the only thing I fall in love with every time; their food too! One of my favorite salads on Disney property.

Wow such great feedback! I think I may have to try to squeeze in both! We are a party of three so I guess my husband would probably sit alone at SciFi and I could be with our daughter (10). Not great for conversation but the theme sounds so fun. 50s sounds like good food and atmosphere too!
