Sci Fi...Nothing available!!

We have our Sci-Fi Reservations! DH actually called this morning at 6:00am (7am ET) . He didn't want to wake me up! Awww. However, the control freak in me would rather have done it myself! He got the reservation for 2:50pm. We were wanting a later lunch time, so that worked out well. However, the person making the reservation for him didn't seem to be with it. She asked for his hotel reservation number, and he gave it to her, but she said it wasn't right. He informed her that we were staying at the Dolphin which is not a Disney hotel, but she kept asking for the correct number. They went back and forth for a while with DH trying to give her any number he could find. Finally she was willing to just take a phone number. DH said he tried to be very patient with her because he didn't want her to hang up on him! :rotfl: He asked for the Sci-Fi Cafe (instead of Dine-in Theater), so hopefully that wasn't too confusing for her!

Does anyone recommend confirming your ADR's at some point before your trip? Not that I don't trust her...

That is too funny about your hubby! How sweet of him, though! Mine would have no clue where to even start if i asked him to call ~ and then to weed through the questionnaire they make you take before they even transfer you to someone! He would be lost! :rotfl:

To answer your question, I would call to confirm before you leave. We're leaving this weekend and I called this morning just because I've moved so much stuff around in the past few weeks I was worried some of the ones I really wanted may have been lost in the shuffle. I just gave the CM my phone number (we're staying at POR, but all the ressies are attached to my phone #), and she was able to run right down the list w/o me giving her any of my confirmation numbers. There were even some that I had previously cancelled that were still open. So after she would cancel them out, she would go back & confirm the one she left open (like one day, we had Crystal Palace reserved for breakfy and dinner, I cancelled the dinner like 2 months ago, but it was still there, so she took it out of the system, and confirmed that I was now booked just for CP Breakfast).

Hope that helps. Have a great trip! princess:

I just got off of the phone and had no luck for dinner at Chef Mickey's for dinner 6/17-6/27. The CM said the entire time was booked. I asked if the math made sense. Under the new 90 day rules that would mean that everybody that has a reservation for 6/27 would have had to have a 10 day reservation starting on the 17th. Do you think that's likely? Seems to me that the rules are being bent for some folks?
Other restaurants giving same result.
Anybody else having similar issues. Not feeling so magical. Stuck in a Disney Dining nightmare.

I'm sorry about your un-magical experience. It sounds like the new system is kind of messed up. I hope they get the kinks out soon!

I wonder if maybe the issues with sci-fi are because of fantasmic only being shown 3 nights a week...i think a lot of people used to get the dining package, but now that it's only offered 3 nights, i bet sci-fi (which has better family theming) is MUCH more popular on the nights fantasmic isn't showing.

I've started a June ADR Cancellation/Trade thread if you are interested in posting there.

I was able to get an ADR at Sci-Fi for 6/20 @ 1:30 p.m. My ADR window opened today and this was the first one I tried to get. I was pleasantly surprised after reading threads like this one in recent days. This was the ONLY ADR that my 8 year old really, really wanted so I am happy but I feel badly for others who aren't getting what they want.

I'm calling for ADRs tomorrow and have learned to avoid SciFi during SWW. SciFi is situated right in the heart of high-profile character photo sets (Anakin, Darth), StarTours, Jedi Master Stage, etc. etc. etc. so it's VERY high visibility and repeat visitors have learned that. We do each park at least twice, so I catch it on the second visit and haven't had any problems...will let you know tomorrow if this year is any different:cutie: BTW: we always enjoy their food. Large portions, good flavor, we've never had anything we didn't like:)

Try again!!!

I posted earlier in this thread that there was nothing available for us when I called two days ago for June 16th.

I called this morning for a dinner ADR for Boma on June 18th. After I booked that I asked her to check Sci-Fi because it was booked when I called the other day. She did, and there was a 12:25 for lunch.

Maybe something in the system was messed up the other day?? Who knows but I am happy to get my ADR this time.

Op here...I just got off the phone with disney dining. I called to see if there was a cancellation on the 20th for Sci fi. The CM said they have been having trouble with Sci Fi and the new system. It's not that is booked up. It's the system itself. She said they put a patch on the system last night. Don't know if it's true since you can get 50 different answers but I thought I would pass the info along.

Wow - I called first thing this morning - my 90th day out - for 6/18 lunch for the four of us - the only time ALL day she had was 11am! I realize that Disney guests get the 10 day rule, and all, but still! I was surprised that it was already so booked. Is this happening more often with the 90 day rule instead of 180?

It kind of seems like it's happening more to me. When we made our ressies for May, we got all the ones we wanted but some where at weird times. It was right on the 90 day mark on a Sunday... I made my dad do it before we went to church, so it was fairly early! LOL

I just called yeasterday for a ressie for 5/8 lunch. They had times from 1-3:30 available? We took a 2pm to have a late lunch. Maybe it was the day you happened to pic?:confused3

It could be because the Sci Fi is starting to get decent reviews or SWW.
We booked under the 90 days for our May trip (7 people). The only thing we didn;t get was the MM F Package - had to settle for H&V instead but we weren't "having" to eat between 11:30-1:00. It seems like a lot of people say that service and food is better if you go on off times instead of when everyone else wants to go.pirate:

Okay, I have a newbie question. What is the 10 day rule for Disney guests?

Seriously...they would add 2 strangers to my family of 4? So someone we don't know may be sitting in the same row as my children and then someone with my husband and I. How akward for everyone! I would not be happy about that!

"Hitchhikers" don't sit in the same row as your family they sit in the back row of the car. The cars have 3 rows of seats that sit two or three if they are small children.

The cars are set up in rows. Our family of 5 sat with another couple. The 3 boys in the front row. Dh and I in the next. The party of 2 in the last row. They won't put you in the same row. It's not a big deal. Hope that helps.

FWIW - I was just told the same thing regarding Sci-Fi for that week in June - system "glitch" that there is a ticket on and they're looking into...

Thanks so much for clarifying! Didnt know there were 3 rows in the cars. Whew!!
