Sci Fi...Nothing available!!

Man, I am bummed to hear this! We want Sci- Fi for lunch on June 17, but I can't call until tomorrow:sad1: (we are staying at the Dolphin)! I'm afraid we won't be able to get in. If we aren't able to, do you suggest calling back daily for cancellations?

Personally, I don't think they had reservations for those days that I called for and for whatever reason they are not in the system for those days at all. I have never run into a restaurant besides CRT that was booked up right as CS opened up for the morning. For June 14th and 16th I called when both were in the 90+10 and at the exact 90 day mark and both times nothing available. The other's I made there was nothing before 2:30. Once it does open I bet there will be availability for at least a month after they put them in the system.

The only restaurant DS9 requested for our June trip is SciFi. We've never been there. I can't call for June 20 until Sunday. I really hope we get lunch on June 20. I know what I'll be doing ythis Sunday at 7 am!!

There are 4 in our party for June 17.

Once it does open I bet there will be availability for at least a month after they put them in the system.

Sorry, I'm slow. I'm not sure what you mean by this.

I'll let you all know how it turns out for us tomorrow!

How many are in your party?

I booked Sci Fi for 6/17 for dinner and the only thing available was 8:05 pm...a little late..but I took it for DD...mostly going for the atmosphere but hoping for a nice dinner...have been reading reviews so we'll see what happens....

What I meant is that a lot of people panic thinking that a restaurant will book up the day they put the dining times in the disney dining system and are afraid they will miss getting an ADR. I am betting that people will still be able to get an ADR for at least a month after Disney releases the dining times for Sci Fi. I hope that makes more sense because I don't know how else to explain it.

For the person looking for Sci fi on 6/20 I was able to book 6/21 so hopefully there will be availabilities on 6/20 too.

When I was on the phone, the woman who was doing my reservations said Sci-Fi has become extremely popular, I didn't have her check dinner times because we only do our TS at lunch.

She said there were seperate tables available at Mama Melrose, we are a party of six. Would they actually sit us at seperate tables? Because I may call back and switch from Prime TIme to Mama Melrose?

Thanks!

Several times we have booked separate table ADRs for parties of 6, 8 or more and we have never been split up when we were seated.

Of course, it is always possible, but it has not happened to us. I would say the odds are good they will seat you altogether.

Good luck in your decision.

Hi. The way to draw ppl in is to limit supply. I have heard Sci Fi food is average at best, so maybe they are making it seem as though it is hard to get a reservation so ppl WANT to make one....like clubs when I was younger...there are long lines outside which make you wonder, why does everyone want to get in? It must be a great place? Then once you get in you think...why in the world did I stand in line for this? Just a thought.:confused3

We have our Sci-Fi Reservations! DH actually called this morning at 6:00am (7am ET) . He didn't want to wake me up! Awww. However, the control freak in me would rather have done it myself! He got the reservation for 2:50pm. We were wanting a later lunch time, so that worked out well. However, the person making the reservation for him didn't seem to be with it. She asked for his hotel reservation number, and he gave it to her, but she said it wasn't right. He informed her that we were staying at the Dolphin which is not a Disney hotel, but she kept asking for the correct number. They went back and forth for a while with DH trying to give her any number he could find. Finally she was willing to just take a phone number. DH said he tried to be very patient with her because he didn't want her to hang up on him! :rotfl: He asked for the Sci-Fi Cafe (instead of Dine-in Theater), so hopefully that wasn't too confusing for her!

Does anyone recommend confirming your ADR's at some point before your trip? Not that I don't trust her...

I have an ADR for 12:05 on the 16th so I sure hope they are open!

I tried to get into Sci-Fi this morning for June 19 but couldn't - lunch or dinner - totally booked. The CM I spoke to told me it's been hard to get into all week She, too, thinks it has to do with Star Wars Weekend - people extending their stay etc...

I'm going to keep trying - would really rather do that than H&V. ;)

Good news for us. We were finally able to book Sci fi at 12:15 on 6/16 table for 2. I just booked it but it was not available the last couple of days.

I just called today and booked for the 16th too at 12:15 so we will be there around the same time. I have been trying for a few days to get that reservation.

I hope it is available for our honeymoon. We are heading down June 20-27 so we cant make ADRs until Sunday. Right now it is supposed to be lunch on the 25th. It was one of the places I was looking forward to.

Hmmmmm....interesting thought. Them Disney people are pretty clever.

Help me out - has this improved since 2006? We ate there then and it was the single worst meal I have ever had at Disney. The burgers were on par with cafeteria food from my high school days, service was extreeeemely slow. If it's improved I'll try it again in June, I like the concept.

We were hoping to try Sci-Fi too (it's our first trip) but when I called for the 16th of June there was NOTHING available. :confused3 Now I see people posting that they got it. It seems a bit hit or miss.

The CM I spoke with also mentioned they were having "issues" with Sci-Fi and her guess was that there was perhaps a large convention-type booking that was taking most of the ressies.

She said to call back and try again - because it's likely something will open up.

I am happy I got the character dining I wanted (well, couldn't get in Chef Mickey's at all - but we're going to Ohana's instead), so I guess we can do Sci-Fi on the next trip. :)

We go here every trip and have always had great/hot food. Service has been from great to somewhat slow, but that did not away the food quality. I love going there for lunch because for a couple more dollars I can sit down and eat a quiet meal (the movies seem to keep kids quiet) in an air conditioned area.

Same problem here. Called for reservation on June 12 (a Friday) for lunch for 3 at any time of the afternoon and absolutely nothing available. I realize that I did not call at 90 days on the nose, but it is hard to believe that there is not a single table for 3 available at this place for lunch almost 3 months out.
