I've read so many mixed reviews I thought I'd try a poll..
I am trying Sci-Fi in Dec. mostly for atmosphere but would still like to go and get a good meal!

So, is it just mixed reviews.. or is this trend I'm seeing where lunch is better actually true??

Vote and post opinions, please!

I've been keeping a close eye on all the Sci-Fi threads. I haven't been there since shortly after they opened, and was thinking of going back this year. Seems to me that as much as I want to read great reviews of this place, they're just not forthcoming! For everyone who likes the place (and even then, with equivocations!), there seems to be three or four who don't. It just isn't worth the risk to me. I suppose, more directly, that if we want to appreciate this theming, perhaps we should make reservations for a mid-afternoon snack of fries and milkshakes...

I choose lunch because, for the price of the dinners, I would go someplace else for dinner. It is a great place for lunch IMHO, the open steak sandwich was really good I thought. :) and not that bad on the wallet.

Every time my hubby and I have been down to Disney we have eaten at Scifi.
Food has been great every time. This time I had BLT soup (yummy) and Shrimp and pasta also (yummy). This was at dinner. Go and enjoy yourself its very good. :goodvibes

We have lunch booked there for December. Like Bicker, we've not been there in years, but thought we'd give it a try, again. We chose lunch because the menu selection looked good, and we usually eat our big meal of the day at noon. I suggest you look over the menus and decide which meal appeals to you. Although the menus are subject to change, they seem to have been pretty stable at Sci-Fi.

I love Sci Fi for lunch or dinner. Last time I had popcorn chowder, barbecued chicken sandwich with angel onions and melty cheese (gouda, I believe) and hot fresh, crispy, right out of the fryer, fries. All was yummy. Waiter was quick- and all the speciality drinks were fabulous. I had some green drink with an outer space type name and glow in the dark ice cube. I have ADR's for December and I will be trying something new as well as the adult shakes (I have my eyes on the cookies and cream shake with Kahlua! but the chocolate with banana liqueur and Malibu might sway me!) I've been three times and I don't get all the bad reviews. I did go with someone who got the flat iron steak sandwich and didn't really like it- said it was tough and hard to eat, but all other people and food items were perfect every time.

We went for lunch in Oct. I got the strawberry shake with a glow cube, onion rings, and the Spinach and Artichoke Dip with chips -- way too much to eat for one person!!! It was yummy! We paid OOP.

Bicker, I'm with you. I had lunch there once years ago. But, I wasn't very hungry so I don't recall how much I liked my sandwich - just that it was HUGE.

I have been very interested in going back for the atmosphere, esp. this upcoming trip because I think my Grandsons would really love eating in a car.

We decided to make a lunch ressie. If we are hungry, we'll do sandwiches. If not, maybe we'll still go for shakes & apps so the boys can do the car thing.

We always have to eat here. It's a MUST for our family. As for if we do lunch or dinner it really depends on avaliblity and what were in the mood for. They have the best burger and shakes around but the pasta options at dinner are excellent as well. So I would say decide that way. If you feel like burgers then do lunch but if your looking for something better due dinner. You'll have a ball either way!

We went for lunch both times I have been there. The food isn't spectacular, but it's not bad either! I appreciated spending less (not too much less - the burger is still $12) and getting the ambiance. It's a really great place to try. :)

my choice wasn't there... NEITHER! we were very very disappointed in sci-fi and will likely not return :(

I voted for lunch. We'd rather do H & V with fantasmic for dinner.

We LOVED sci-fi for lunch. My food was DELICIOUS. I guess you just never know. WE happened upon it, didn't know what it was, went in and thought it was so cool.

Have fun.

Lunch and only Lunch at least 10 times. The atmosphere is the same at both lunch and dinner and suits our schedule at lunch. We enjoy a more elaborate/formal dinner and therefore choose another location at dinner.

I'm so glad I found this post as I'm getting ready to make a PS for Sci-Fi today. I know the food there can be on again, off again but my husband has never been there and he will just love it. Looking at the menus on AllEars, I noticed that the lunch and dinner menu are almost the same ~ am I missing something? Are the food choices (and even the $) really much different at lunch and dinner?
